Poverty is one of the major national social issues that we must address immediately. What are we going to do about it, and what are possible solutions to address this issue? The Philippines is considered a developing country because of its continuous pursuit of economic growth. However, the Philippines is still considered poor due to low job creation and opportunities, low economic growth, and rapid population growth.

Poverty is not an accident. It is like slavery and man-made that can be removed by human actions. This suggests that extreme poverty can be solved and eliminated if people are concerned about it and find a solution to address this issue. Because only humans are the cause and root of this problem, and we are the only ones who can do anything about it. Furthermore, poverty is at the root of the emergence of several issues such as education, unemployment, overpopulation, and widespread corruption.

Some poor people do not believe that education is the key to success. Some families and individuals below the poverty line do not value education as much as ordinary people. Education is powerful enough to ensure a person's success, but I believe it does not guarantee long-term survival. Some people, for example, would rather look for a job than complete their degree. That way, while receiving the minimum wage, they can support their families and themselves in their daily lives. Those individuals believe that it is more important to survive than to get a degree. Consequently, based on statistics, the percentage of students who do not complete their education is increasing every year. Such cases are alarming because it will only result in more poor people in the country.

Overpopulation is both a cause and effect of poverty in the country. Poor individuals, particularly impoverished teenagers are sometimes the cause of the country's worse state due to a lack of guidance and education. Their understanding of family planning is not enough, which is why they have been the main cause of overpopulation in the country. It can affect the growth and success of the country. Due to the rapid increase in the country's population, especially in urban areas, underemployment and unemployment are some of its effects. Not everyone will be able to work because the number of jobs and the population of the country are not balanced. Continued population growth can result in a lack of basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, and land. As a result, the level of poverty in the country will increase.

In various areas and regions of the Philippines, corruption has caused and impacted poverty over time. Corruption and poverty are deeply connected and it is closely affecting developing countries. Corruption causes income inequality resulting in low growth and economic development, leading to increasing poverty of the country. On the other hand, corruption is the effect of poverty because it is a way of lifting politicians out of poverty. They use politics to get money from people without their knowledge and gain power and selfish interests. Corruption prevents the issuance of political and economic changes for the development of the country.

Here are some possible solutions and actions we can take to address this issue: First, the government must ensure that every student in the Philippines has access to high-quality education and ensure their long-term safety. Then, offer higher-quality jobs with higher pay by amending the constitution and changing the charter. The government needs to change the 6040 equity ownership law to create more jobs and promote higher wages. If everyone had a job, no one would go down the poverty line trying to survive every day. Next is controlling the continued growth of the population by providing all the right guidance and knowledge about family planning. In addition, the government should limit the number of children per family based on family income and resources to prevent rapid population growth and poverty. Finally, eradicate corruption by electing officials with a clear vision for the country's development and exposing any corrupt practices to maintain the integrity, transparency, and accountability of the public sector.
