Isadore Sharp and his father (Max Sharp) constructed the first hotel in 1961 in Toronto, Canada. Sharp said that they had opened the first hotel with a simple vision that they will treat every customers as a special guest in hotel. Then in 1963, the second hotel was opened in Toronto’s Inn on the Park. This time the architect take responsibility for innovate design for that will improve from the first hotel.
In 1970s, Four Seasons opened a hotel in London, England. They focused on the strategy for future direction of company. The first strategy is to form the pillars of its business platform which is about the quality. They decide to emphasis on small, central and well-appointed for every 24 hour with friendly service. On the second strategy the true luxury which does not come from the design but the service.
In 1980s, the hotel expanded more across the US cities such as Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, and Dallas. The hotel change the strategy from a hotel to management company. The introduced the third of four strategy which is about the culture. This make the owner (Issy Sharp) and his teams created a formal credo. The concept that have shown up is treat customers, employees, partners, and suppliers as one would wish to be treated as human nature.
In 1990s, the company introduced the Four Seasons experience to a significant number of destinations in Europe and Asia. First, Four Seasons launched first tropical resort, in Maui and in the following year the company welcomed guests to the natural which is not well-known in Caribbean island of Nevis and then the first Four Seasons hotel in Asia was opened in Tokyo in 1992. The first restoration of a historic property the Renaissance convent that became Four Seasons Hotel Milano opened in 1993. Since that time, Four Seasons has transformed historic treasures in cities such as Istanbul, Paris, Budapest and Florence and in the same year Four Seasons had ultra-private seclusion in Balinese pavilions as a stepping stone to the luxurious concept of tented accommodations at Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle.
In 2000s, Four Seasons Hotel started the first hotel in Middle East and later expanded in the region in a few years. Four Seasons had reached $100 million in cumulative online bookings via www.fourseasons.com in 2004. The partnership of Bill Gate and Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal get the private ownership which made Sharp and his family have to retain a specific share and the relation with company.
In 2010s until now, Four Seasons still focus the expansion on global number. The company focus on the creativity and innovation that will improve the leadership in luxury travel. The hotel now show up the hotel in many country such as Russia, Africa, and Tanzania. At present, they also introduced the first jet plane which will service the customers with the highly experience on sky.
