Take Hollywood for example, they are constantly depicting different cultures in a bias way. Typically involving variety of stereotypes that are out of line and over the top. They assume because one group in that ethnicity does it, the whole ethnic group does it. However, that is false; what is true for the part is not true for the whole. It is easier for us to learn about the culture of the judger than this one being judged. This is because we probably see the judger and having some knowledge as to what he is saying. Hence, bringing us to want to know why he is saying those things. Ethnocentrism drives us to make false suppositions about social contrasts. We are ethnocentric when we utilize our social standards to make speculations about other people groups' societies and traditions.
