The Importance of Self-value and Self-worth in Oprah Winfrey's Interview with Michelle Obama

One of the things I noticed in Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Michelle Obama was coming together and supporting each other. I think it is very important for everyone to support one another and support them throughout tough times and difficult decisions throughout their lifetime. Another thing I thought was important was knowing your self-value and self-worth. I think this is important to not only me but everyone. A lot of people in the world don’t realize their self-worth and are always putting themselves down or thinking they aren’t good enough. Or, how Michelle talked about not letting all the negative comments get to her. She knows who she is and that’s all she cares about. We all need to know who we are and not let things get to our heads.

Also, another good comment that was made was when Michelle and Oprah talk about not listening to what others have to say about you. In the future, they won’t remember what you said. But they may be impacted by something you did. I feel this also impacts everyone because one bad or good thing can lead to a network of bad or good decisions being transferred from one person to the next. For example, say someone is being bullied, I’ve seen a lot of movies where the person being bullied often wants to end their life because of this. Well, when they make that decision it impacts their family, the bullies family, often times the school gets involved, and friends of the bullied kid, or bullies friends.

Lastly, a very good point made that I liked was when Michelle states that success kills your haters. If you be the best you can be, eventually these haters will see that your success just keeps growing and they can’t do anything about it. Michelle also talks about how we need to connect with people and help out. We will get a lot of enjoyment, relief, and feel good from the work we do.

One last thing Michelle and Oprah talked about was that everything we do is just a phase to fulfillment. If we ignore the haters, keep on succeeding, and do good in the world we will reach our fulfillment. This will also lead to us feeling good about ourselves and we will gain a great load of self-value and self-worth.
