The Need of Geometry in Orthodontics

Many great minds spent countless hours to study its properties and to this day, its application is evident in various field and in the world of dentistry, it earns its special place in orthodontics. Orthodontists fix the irregularities of the teeth and jaws. It deals with the occlusion and alignment. The golden proportion became the basis of a natural and perfect smile. It shows that the width of the central incisor is in the golden proportion to the width of the lateral incisor. Similarly, the lateral incisor is in the same golden proportion to the canine and is in the Golden Proportion to the first premolar.

Calculation has been one of the fundamentals for producing desirable results and predicting the outcome. It creates solutions that would otherwise be unavailable if it were not for its precision and accuracy. Removing it and might as well as all math related, there will only be myriads of conundrum, as the saying goes “For the things of this world cannot be made known without a knowledge in mathematics” by Roger Bacon shows that we can only get so far without it.
