Education is more than just learning from books. The article states that many students feel uninterested and unengaged during high school. It tackles the idea of how high school education is not extremely beneficial. As for a teenager, it is not easy to discover their purpose in life. It takes them a long time and effort to settle on what really brings them bliss. It is much easier and simpler on them if they are given chances to look into their interests at a young age; this will help them find a career which they can perform in. The author states that a huge number of teens feel either disengaged or pressured about attending high school. Most teens agree that school teaches them things that are far away from what they will deal with in real life. Moreover, students are taught in the same way workers were taught years ago. Therefore, the curriculum must be changed in order to help teens develop a love of learning.

Education is the key to success in all its forms. In order to build a successful community, you must start with educating its people. Education gives you unlimited knowledge, turns your dreams into reality, makes you feel independent, and saves you from being cheated on. In my opinion, education provides us a good future and a stable life, however, many students feel lost and others feel that they are extremely far away from their passion. Therefore, it is preferably recommended to change the curriculum from its core. The education system must focus on having a curriculum which teaches students more about real life and its values. To elaborate, as a high school student, I see that I have graduated without learning enough about life; instead, I have studied many things that I find have no use such as complicated math equations and sophisticated physics studies. I always relied on memorizing; I used to memorize to go fill the exam paper for good grades and forget everything I wrote right after I drop the pen, give paper, and leave the exam room.

Four years ago, my parents have thought of immigrating to Dubai which required me to attend school there for almost six months before deciding to come back. I went to Dubai International School, it was hard on me to leave my family, friends, and county behind and get to meet and know new people. However, people there were extremely friendly; there were a lot of people from many different countries all around the world. I remember the classroom was consisted of thirty students from different countries such as Pakistan, Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Jordan, and Sudan, however, all teachers have always succeeded to manage an engaged class. In most times, they started class with interesting activities. Unlike the failing education system in Egypt, grades are based on understanding not memorizing in Dubai. Teachers there try their best to facilitate the curriculum that we only depended on what we listened to and understood in class, the idea of having to take a private class outside school didn’t really exist. If a student ever needed any extra help, he referred directly to the school’s administration and he is happily assisted. I find this education system extremely helpful. I gained an experience of years in only six months that would benefit me in my life.

From the experience that I have gained from life, I see a world of failure and I know our world will continue in deceit. Education will continue to be a failing system in our lives as long as we don’t change our curriculum due to cultural mentality and beliefs. We must understand that everybody is a genius, but in his own way. However education should be what helps as achieve our goals, many students who actually drop school in order to find their purpose in life. This failing in our system is not only in Egypt, it is also present in every developing country. Celebrities as Jennifer Lawrence has dropped out of school she was going to be a vet, but she stated that “I struggled through school, I never felt very smart. And when I’m reading this script, and I feel like I know exactly what it would look like if somebody felt that way. That was a whole part of my brain that I didn’t even know existed. Something that I could be confident in. And I don’t want to let go. ” That is where creativity lies in.

Not only Celebrities dropped out of school, Steve Jobs did too. He then started his own company after attempts of failure. He never gave up and now, apple has become one of the most successful companies, making bestselling iPhones up till today. He didn’t rely on education, he relied his creativity. Education has different purposes in life than just getting a job. It is not exclusively in schools. Life, work, nature, family, and friends gives you lessons just like those in textbooks and the bonus is that you get a practical experience as well. In conclusion, the importance of education can never be underestimated. It is crucial. Moreover, teachers should find different ways to guide students to the right path to a prosperous future. Many activities should be done, not only to have an engaging class, but to also end the feeling of boredom students get in class.

Therefore, the education system and its curriculum must be changed in order to help students determine their interests, abilities, and find their purpose in life. Scientists have proven that no two brains that are alike. Teachers shouldn’t stand in front of a huge number of students teaching them in the same exact way each time expecting them all to relate and understand. “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” (Einstein).
