Myanmar (Myan, mar), is a perfect country, where endless landscapes, ancients civilizations and adventures places fill its huge land. Think typical forests surrounded the half of country, beautiful golden pagodas and well-preserved temples fill the landscape. The temples are more than 200 years old and covered in gold. All of local people war skirt-like “lon-gyi” and women beautify with ThaNaKha (yellow-white cosmetic paste having perfumed scent made from ground bark). The most greeting sentence said that all of local people from Myanmar, “Mingalarbar!” Consecutively north to south, the huge Irrawaddy River divides the country in two. If you love travel and lookout for exciting and most historical places, please don’t look further than Myanmar. No-one argues Myanmar isn’t one of the world’s most exciting destinations.
Myanmar is situated on Southeast Asia, neighbouring with Bay of Bengal south and Andaman Sea. It is bordered in east by Laos and Thailand, in north and northeast China, in west by Bangladesh and the India states of Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram. People also known this country as “Burma” and called “The Golden Land”.
The country covers area of 676, 578 km2, 10th largest country in Asia and 2nd largest country in Southeast Asia by geographical area.
The climate of Myanmar is humid normally. Myanmar has 3 types of seasons. The hot season is generally from March to April. Rainy season is started from May to October, then temperatures would then cool off. The southwest tropical monsoon starts from mid of May until June, making the frequent rain falls till October. The cold season is most beautiful starts from November to February and the temperatures remain relatively pleasant, cool breezes from north blow across the country. However, the climate inclines to vary largely from place to place because of, differences in latitude and the marked variety of topographical relief.
There are 135 distinct ethnic groups in Myanmar. The have 8 major national races which are Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Burma, Mon, Rakhine and Shan. The country’s population is estimated to be over 60 million and most of the people live in Yangon, the old capital of Myanmar, with a population of over five millions. Even military government built new capital city as “Nay Pyi Taw” but Yangon remain to be the country’s largest city and the most important commercial hub.
Myanmar is already rich with natural resources such as petroleum, natural gas, jade, timber, jewelleries and gems, and then the economy mainly relies on agricultural products, oil and gas, gemstones and tourism.
The most ancient primates is Pondaung Man who may have been 40 million years ago, discovered in Pondaung, northern Myanmar. After those eras, many states and cities came out, and then emerged 3 big empires. The 1st Myanmar Empire (AD 1044) is initiated by King Anawrahtar. He organized the little states and villages into a single empire. The 2nd Myanmar Empire (also known as King Hantharwaddy) was originated by King Bayint Naung in AD 1287 at Bago. The last Empire was Kongbaung Dynasty (AD 1752) founded by King Bodaw Paya. Although several years has passed, the culture still remains unspoiled unlike any destination you have ever been.
Taxis and government public transports (YBS) are available everywhere in Yangon (Rangoon). Local countrywide transportation is available by Airways, Roadways, Railways and Waterways. There have 3 main domestic airlines suitable for visitors are Air Bagan, Air Mandalay and Yangon Airways and new sectors airlines companies coming in now. There are many express buses in Myanmar and bus fare is normally cheaper than other transportations. You may want to visit by River cruise if you got plenty of time.
