The Reasons I Deserve an Opportunity to Study Law at University

Law is an crucial part of society. Without the law, there would be chaos and anarchy. Law is what defines the society we live in. Without law there would be crime, discrimination, social and political injustice and more. Law varies from country to country causing issues to arise in one country and not another. In our current day and age, we are exposed to concurring stories on injustice, often based on racial issues, sexism, political imbalances or simply down to differentials in class. But why are these issues prominent? If the Law is right, why are we plagued with stories of police brutality, misconduct and unlawful shootings?

My interest is to learn more about the legal system so I can better my understanding which will aid in my fight for justice. Languages help us express our feelings and desires, they also shape our perspective. Being able to speak three languages thoroughly has aided me view and value life in different ways due to the contrasting culture and lifestyle of where the languages originate from. I successfully completed work experience in a law firm in France. Completing my work experience abroad helped boost my confidence, as I had to speak to clients over the phone, at times some could become frustrated and I had to maintain a professional demeanor.

Although French is my native language, I found it challenging to communicate in French throughout my placement as French law terms were used. However this only expanded my interest in Law. It gave me an insight into how it would be if I were to do law with a language and gave me the opportunity to observe the varying types of skills required to be successful in a growing establishment such as this. In addition, completing my work experience in a law firm gave me some amazing knowledge about the kind of issues lawyers in this field face. I have completed The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh. This course enabled me to comprehend what living away from home would feel like as I had to be independent, plan my own routes using a map, cook for myself and camp out. Throughout this course, I was able to develop my leadership as I had to keep my team motivated throughout and my team working capabilities along with delegating roles to get things done quickly and effectively.

In Addition to my academic interests, I take part in extracurricular activities such as Indian classical dancing, Bharathanatyam is seen as one of the most difficult dance form as your strength comes from your footwork and your facial expressions. After eight years of hard work and dedication I managed to get my diploma with a distinction. Throughout the eight year period, I had many opportunities to dance for a large number of charity organisations and also perform on the Wembley Arena in honor of our soldiers who passed away at work. Throughout my high school era, I have been a student leader, I was re-elected every year.

This role enhanced my public speaking competence as I had to prepare speeches from weekly assemblies to termly meetings with the local governors.
