The Roles of National Security and Privacy in Protecting Civil Liberties

It is both the accomplishment and the progress of legal codes with the intentionality of preserving the country against assualts, illegal foreign invasions and terrorism. It greatly helps to maintain security in worldwide trade and guarantees the control of immigrants. National security surrounds (focuses) on central security. The well known topic National Security and personal privacy has been a topic of controversy for several years. Experts have been at odds surrounding the topic, should the people of the country maintain national security at the expense of their privacy.

National Security plays a significant role in our society. This is evident in the U.S. Patriot Act which does not only take heed to conversations sorrounding terrorism, but also observes and track the activity and plans of terrorists. This also plays a significant role because it allows us to be a step ahead of the terrorist acts and can be in a better position to preserve the country and people from terrorism. If the society was allowed privacy at the expense of their security then it would come at a very expensive security cost! If there is no national security then the authorities would fail to take security measures to protect the country against terrorism, and they would put the lives of American citizens in great danger.

The U.S. Patriot Act is very efficient and successful for obstructing and highjacking (intercepting) terrorist activities (terrorist movements and plans). The information gathered from intercepting terrorist messages, converserations, and movements contributes a legal tool for investigation and prosecution of terrorists. This act simply provides that all American citizens are secured to some certain standard (degree) from terrorist attacks.

The welfare and well – being of American citizens must always be a first. National Security lays a more significant role than personal privacy because it is better to be safe than sorry. The American government must guarantee both the internal and external security at all costs because it plays both a significant role and responsibility to society. Occasionally, it may mean the violation of some private rights and liberties. To some certain degree, both national security (safety) and Personal Privacy are important because they both play a significant role in shaping our society.

In conclusion, both Safety and Privacy plays an essential role in the aspects in the lives of the American people. It is important to be protected, be safe, and to have the right to privacy to fully enjoy life. However, the Patriot Act allows for the violation of privacy. This is a very unfortunate condition but can be overlooked. On the other hand, the American authorities are straightforwardly doing this for the common good (everyday, commonplace) of the American people.
