Christmas seems to be a very popular holiday for everyone. It is always bursting with sounds of music, family, and tons of gifts surrounding us. It is a holiday that makes us full of curiosity and it tends to make us want to take a peek at the gifts. In this case, there was no person or child peeking it was something else.
My old friendly cat, Milo, was the one to accuse. In this photo, I caught him red-handed under the Christmas tree taking a peek at the gifts. Milo was a bright orange with light white stripes scattered everywhere. He had a long tail with a white tip. His ears are laid back like he was listening to make sure he did not get caught. Milo is sitting in the middle of all the presents, looking curiously. He is ;leaning into the tree with his left paw sticking up to get the presents.
Milo’s surroundings in the photo are the Christmas tree and all the presents around him. The presents were all wrapped up in the theme colors that my mom had picked for that year. The colors were mostly blue, but it had some white, red, and a little green. The presents had all kinds of patterns around them. There were stripes, Christmas trees, and candy canes. All above Milo were the family’s ornaments. There where bright blue and silver ones. There is also cartoonish ornament like: Tigger from Winnie the Pooh and some princesses. Around all the ornaments are delicious candy canes. The candy canes are blue with a darker blue stripe twisting around it. There was some blue see-through ribbon going around the tree. My cat just adored all of his surroundings. I think he thought of it all as toys, it was definitely Christmas for him.
Milo started doing this a few days before Christmas one year. All the present were set out around the tree and a cricket started hopping towards them. It happened to catch Milos’s eye. He ran from one side of the room into the tree. Instead of getting the cricket, he started tarring the presents. Since then I think he just liked tearing up the paper and the cricket just gave him a reason to under the tree with all the presents.
My cat has always been a curious one. I’ve learned that in the many years of having him. Even today, in his old age I will see him at that very same spot trying to take a peek at the presents. I did eventually start to double wrap the presents, because you never knew who would be trying to take a peek under the tree.
