In a family system, women play a vital role in family and child leisure activities. Women’s contribution to the society has happened mostly through family. They have allowed the society to smoothly transition to the literate from a preliterate society. This change has been attributed to feminism. This is the belief of females’ rights on grounds of gender equality. Even when the political and economic aspects of a society evolve, only the families with effective adjusting strategies fair best. The title IX is a United States federal law which outlaws gender based discrimination in any state funded programs. The law requires that no United States citizen shall be excluded on grounds of their sex from participation, subjected to discrimination, and be denied access to any federal education programs with federal financial aid. Since its signing into a law, the Title IX has been linked to success only in female athletics; however, Title IXs impact has affected other areas in women’s lives such as education and sexual assaults.

One of the benefits of the Title IX is the creation of career education for women. In the past, it was believed that specific careers or courses were designed for males or females alone. This law however, has changed that. University courses such as engineering, medicine and astrology were previously known as male courses but this law has given women an opportunity to pursue careers in these fields without fear of discrimination; An opportunity that has revolutionized the business world.

This law also offers federal protection to parenting and pregnant students. Before this legislation, learning institutions had the right to expel pregnant students. Presently, learning institutions are expected to provide pregnant students and parenting children with special programs that ensure they also get access their right to education. This has allowed more and more women to have access to education even when raising families. It also assists in fighting sexual harassment in learning institutions. Under this law, institutions are legally obligated to address and actively prevent and report sexual harassment cases. Previously, sexual harassment issues in learning institutions were often swept under the rugs and this has completely changed. Finally, the Title IX has subconsciously increased self-esteem and self-confidence in women. According to the Women’s Sports Foundation, improved safety for women in leaning institutions, their acceptance in the workplace and freedom of expression has increased women’s self-confidence levels.
