To begin, Republicans and Democrats both have their own views on the issue of gun control. Democrats believe guns laws should become harsher and more firm. To be more specific, Democrats want to make a difference by prohibiting assault firearms. And as for other weapons, Democrats want to decrease the maximum number of bullets each weapon can hold. They also want to make stronger identification mandatory for everyone. They believe many of these dangerous weapons do not belong in public which is why they are allowing legal actions to take place against these weapon developers. Overall, Democrats want there to be more rules when it comes to ownership of these firearms. On the other hand, Republicans believe that gun laws don’t need to become more restricted. To go into detail, Republicans believe that individuals should be allowed to have possession of a firearm at any time. This is included in public areas and in widely known parks. The reason why is because they believe that firearms are an important factor when it comes to protecting yourself or others. Not only that but, Republicans also think that it isn’t necessary to further look into backgrounds of individuals who wish to possess weapons. Overall, Republicans don’t believe that harsher laws will prevent cultural brutality. Lastly, based on where the two parties stand on the issues and where I stand on the issues, I would align myself with the Democratic party on this issue.
Next, Republicans and Democrats both have their own views on the death penalty issue. Democrats have two main beliefs when it comes to the death penalty. First, for the states that don’t have death penalty, they think that the act should be illegal. They don’t believe that it discourages people from committing crimes. Second, for the states that do have this law, they think that the act shouldn’t be arbitrary. Democrats believe the death penalty should only be allowed under certain circumstances. They don’t believe it should be used all the time. Not only that, but they also believe that DNA examination is imperative, and the government shouldn’t be unjust when it comes to the death penalty. All in all, The Democratic party prefers that the death penalty isn’t used. On the other hand, Republicans believe that the death penalty should be legal. To go into more detail, Republicans think that by permitting the death penalty, it will reassure those who suffered from a cruel crime. Not only that, but, Republicans believe that by authorizing the death penalty, it will prevent the number of illegal acts from happening here on out. They believe that if people don’t want to face the death penalty, then they won’t commit felonies.
Overall, Republicans strongly believe that the idea of death penalty will help change our nation’s future for the good. Lastly, based on where the two parties stand on the issues and where I stand on the issues, I would align myself with the Democratic party on this issue.
