Do you like animals? Do you like zoos? Do you think they're cruel? Zoos shouldn't be banned! Zoos have been saving creatures from extinction, animals don't need to hunt, and people can study the animals.
Did you know that zoos have saved several species over the last few years and are still trying new methods to save endangered species? Sadly, there are hundreds of species in the world that are endangered, most of them are endangered because us humans destroy their habitats for wood and other resources. Some creatures are endangered because of natural causes, others are endangered because of introduced species such as the red fox. Now zoos use special breeds of dog to detect and protect endangered species around the world. Dogs are just one of the ways that zoos are improving in recovering endangered species. Once they have the animal in their care, they give it some of the best treatment so it can reproduce. It can be easier to study an animal if it's not extinct.
When you study an animal, it should be in prime condition and be happy. This can be very difficult when an animal is constantly stressed about starving to death, or when it's going to be attacked next. If an animal in the wild is stressed and sees a potential threat such as someone trying to study it, the animal will either run away or attack you. If you're studying it you want neither these things to happen to you. When in a zoo animal if given the right amount of care will be stress free and easy to study. It's even easier to study if they're are not hungry and stressed.
Often when hunting animals can get injured or attacked. Animals often burn half of their total daily calories hunting for food therefor needing to hunt and eat even more than they need to. When animals hunt, they can also be ambushed by predators or injure themselves while hunting, for example breaking a leg, eating human rubbish that's been throw into the wild, or choosing to eat something introduced, like a cane toad. Zoos can stop all of these bad things from happing to an animal, they can treat broken bones, can clean the rubbish, and they don't feed them anything that might harm them unless it's for the animals own good. It can be hard to study animals if they get injured or they get hunted trying to study the chosen animal. That's my final reason to why zoos shouldn't be banned.
To conclude: zoos shouldn't be banned because they have been saving animals from extinction, animals don't starve, and animals become easier to study in zoos. If you don't see why zoos shouldn't be banned, then read this whole text again.
