Tourism in Pakistan

Tourism is on the peak from two years in Pakistan. The time is long gone when immeasurable Americans, British, Canadians, Chinese, Germans, Australians, and people from all over the world used to visit Pakistan to see its beautiful and shocking historical and cultural tradition. Our beautiful country’s tourism is now snowed under with terrorism and instability which has kept it off the radar for all but a few most unsentimental explorers. Its rich culture, impressive hill stations, scenic places, history, heritage, beautiful lakes and tallest mountains are tearfully waiting for eager visitors who would extremely tell the world about their distinctiveness. Some would say that political will comes first, they are not wrong as well.

Terrorism, in the previous few years, has injured our tourism a lot. The most terrible of this was 2013, when on 22 June sixteen militants dressed in Gilgit Scouts uniforms storm a high elevation climbing base camp in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan, and killed 10 climbers and a local guide. These climbers were from various countries, including Ukraine, China, Slovakia, and Nepal. Apart from the countrywide attacks on tourists, many countries issued travel advisories to their citizens. In 2016, UK’s Foreign Office advised against all travel to certain areas of Pakistan such as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, the districts of Kohat, Lakki and Lower Dir, the city of Peshawar, northern and western Baluchistan and travel on the Karakoram Highway between Islamabad and Gilgit. They also advised against all but necessary travel to the Kalash Valley, the Bamoboret Valley and Arandu District to the south and west of Chitral in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa the city of Quetta the city of Nawabshah in Sindh, and areas of interior Sindh to the north of Nawabshah. Most of these no-go areas for foreign tourists are those which carry the most persuasive tourist attractions.

In 2009, Pakistan was ranked 113 out of 130 countries to visit, According to the World Economic Forum's Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report (TTCR). Although due to Political instability, suicide attacks, religious conflict, kidnapping of foreigner and insecurity in the country had poorly affected the Tourism all over the country, especially NWFP, which is currently renamed as Pakhtoonkhwa. Due to fight between military and religious forces, the NWFP- which is measured 70% of the country's tourist’s site, and where millions of people concerned in the tourism industry are poorly crushed. Continuous war and terror has damaged both the economy and protection of the area.

Pakistan has very different and rich culture to recommend tourist together with lots of opportunity for adventure tourism as the four provinces and three territories of Pakistan are very diverse and so different that it doesn't look like to foreign tourist that they are in same country with different culture, attractions and different seasons.Pakistan should improve the image of country by first of improving security condition in order to convince foreign tourist that they are safe in the country because in the past the incident like kidnapping of American journalist and attack on srilankan team together with bomb blast in big cities of the country go ahead to a feeling among the west that Pakistan is not a safe country which is main cause of on its last legs tourism in the country especially tourist from western countries are unwilling to visit Pakistan because of the fear that country is not safe enough.
