Tourism in Third World Countries

Third world countries priority are not to be on tourism. Tourism is to be the leading focus for economically countries since they would be able to sustain, poorer countries focus should be on meeting the needs of the citizens. Take for example America, America is one of the wealthy city that were able to sustain tourism industry. If poorer countries are able to meet citizens needs to become be a more economically developed country they would be able build their business. As poorer countries do not have resources to sustain the industry it would have a bad effect on them, causes needs of citizens to increase. Tourism can have disadvantages towards poorer countries, as business need a huge amount of resources that poorer countries would not have even if they have the resources it would likely be taken from the citizens. The word tourism can be defined as a tourist sight that tourist visit. Thus it is crucial to investigate this matter in order to raise awareness on the state the poorer countries are in now. Poorer countries priority, like Africa, should satisfied the needs of the citizens rather than on the tourism.

Bad side to tourism, are that it will cause a permanent reduction towards resources that comes naturally. Like food, and land. The amount of tourist kept increasing, the percent of drinkable liquid would decrease. Over tourism may causes water crisis on the least economically countries. Take for example, In Mediterranean, hot weather, in addition, amount of tourists who drank liquid when they were on vacation compare to when they were at home, the water they drank can be up to 440 liters a day. Because of the seasonality in tourism, the tourist attraction would have an influx of tourists at the most popular time of the year compare to the least popular time of the year, as it is seasonal during summer - the hot season - the influx of tourists would buy liquid to quench their thirst plus the tourist would be hungry after visiting the attraction they would buy food to satisfy their stomach. This would result in poorer countries who have limited amount to eat and drink be use up in a faster speed.

Tourism not only cause reduction in resources that comes naturally but it can cause harmful pollution in the air. The number of tourist who flew by air from the year of 1972 to 1994 grew in great amount taking up to 60% of air travel. The sixty percent of air travel would produce the air emissions causing harm to the environment. Acid rain, global warming, and also photochemical pollution is connected to the transport emissions and emissions from energy. Carbon dioxide are being emitted out from air transport which tourist use as a means to travel, this is why the air apollution can become extremely dreadful for the locals. For example, during an excursion in order for the tourists to return to the bus with cool air, the tour bus did not turn off the engines. The waste on this earth is endless, and because of the endless waste the poorer countries would be greatly affected because most of the garbage always find its way to the poorer countries. The waste that keeps accumulating is store in a desolate, uninhabited land, the locals who live near will be affected by the harmful gas. However with the advance in technologies cruise lines are created to disposed of the waste. But if the amount of tourists do not decrease the problem would never be solve, the earth, the economically countries, less economically countries would be affected. And to top it off, with how much waste is accumulated in the ocean, it can made the water contaminated, the animals living in the ocean would gradually become extinct creatures, the extinct creatures are also the source of food for the people by contaminating the water it contaminate the fish and the fish we ate would cause harm to people and the people include tourists.

The positive side of tourism is that it can give jobs to people, such jobs are hotel staffs and tour guides, these jobs are good in a way that it can pay salary to the staffs but also sells their own locals products in order to earn more profits for the country.

This essay has concluded that poorer countries priority is on the needs of the citizens rather than on tourism. It is without a doubt that research has shown the negative and positive side of the tourism business, how it affects countries in so many ways like the food and water can cause harm to not only the people but also the land itself. How tourism causes contaminated the water and make a lot of animals become extinct creatures, how tourism grew to such a big business, the bigger it grew the more pollution it would produce in the air. However this essay is only limited to how tourism causes damage to people and land it did not include how tourism can greatly affect economy, jobs, infrastructure, to traffic. It cannot be argued that tourism indeed causes a great damage to the society, not meeting the need of the citizens in poorer countries and only focus on tourism is wrong, if not meeting the needs of the country, and result the people to pass away, the population would decrease resulting in the fall of a country. Tourism is a business that have it's good and bad points indeed but it should also depends on the countries who want to produce the tourism business. That is why the poorer countries should focus on the people first than on tourism, as long as there are citizens a country can made profits. As tourism business keep increasing it would lead to global warming, the poorer countries would be the one that is greatly affected by global warming this is why tourism have good and bad impact.
