Transcendentalism – The Most Intellectual Movement Ever

At this moment, 2022 of 21st century, transcendentalism is widespread in many aspects of life involving society, education, politics, religion, literature, and philosophy as well as social reform and efforts of American culture. What is this movement called Transcendentalism? This movement is a contribution towards Enlightenment Thinking in the United States. Reality, it is difficult to defined exactly meaning of this movement because of the diversity in set of ideals even “they are linked not only by social exchange and correspondence but also by shared experiences” (Buell, xi). The majority of supporters and members of this movement absorbs the knowledge not only from the reason but also from intuition.

Nature is the center of everything and becomes a crucial factor to achieve their self-knowledge. With the current natural environment situation, nature is being destroyed intensely and mercilessly. It is also the explanation for currently wrath of Mother Nature, catastrophic Amazon rainforest fires in Brazil and its consequence on human beings. The larger amount of time spending in computers and smartphones, the decreasing in time spending outdoors appreciating nature. Nowadays, we have a tendency to board a society that's essentially lacking in substance.

Teenagers and even adults spend excessive time on social media including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and neglect the outside issues, especially nature and environment. It has inadvertently created a passive in questioning or thinking seriously about messages or opinions which they get, instead, they just accept. In some respects, the rest of “normal” society has isolated environmentalists. For us, it is a “red alert” and the reason to this movement was established.

The purpose of American Transcendentalism is learning and growing intellectually and spiritually, so that education is demonstrated as its heart. A lot of people of the movement attended Harvard College and/ or its divinity school. Transcendentalist thought and literature becomes important to help individuals and society as a whole be improved if people obtain some lessons.

As the result, I suggest that Transcendentalism should to be as part of High School curriculum. Students will be introduced to the movement in history, then the philosophy, literature, culture, and identifiers are elaborated on in English. All of those current shortcomings in human acting might be immensely improved by invigorating Transcendentalist concepts and spreading and learning Transcendentalist readings, additional thus than we have a tendency to already do in high school and much earlier during child’s education. Education also creates opportunities to approach a value of thinking critically and appreciating nature by reading Literature.

In conclusion, answering for the question “Why is Transcendentalism important?,” Transcendentalism brings a huge benefits to the development of human beings as well as society in United States and over the world in general. Studying in nature and updating environmental issues plays an important role in achieving knowledge and solving climate change.

In additional to, as a American Transcendentalist, I will improve the education system which lack in forming critical thinking and encourage people’s innovative ideas for society. Therefore, understanding and participation in this movement contributes to change people’s actions and protect the Earth and their life as well as their next generations’.
