I choose this topic because it seemed the easiest and interesting to do. The interesting thing about this topic is that it is a real-world issue that would happen to any woman who is unmarried and has a child. I did not know anything about this so that is why I decided to see what it has to offer. I personally believe that if a woman who has no partner or a job needs help in this situation because it is most commonly occurred in young teens.
The websites that Google provides are very helpful since that is where all the information was found. The way the project was able to be completed was because it was worked on by three people. Since there are nine sections in total it was broken up into three sections for each of us. I was responsible for researching job training, transportation, and utilities. Many of the sources were in different websites which was at least helpful with the information they provide. All the sources were helpful. It was laid out in a step by step manner. The problems I found was that there was not a lot of information for the father side of being single parent.
Each website had information that was needed for this project and luckily was not as difficult to find. This project was easier to get done since there was three of us and not a solo mission. The utilities section was the most helpful since it was the one that just added on to what was already found in the previous sections. I enjoyed researching ways to find help for single parents just in case I become one I will know what to do and look forward to. The search was an interesting experience and very helpful and informative.
There was so much that was learned from the anchor since there was so much information found. There is a lot of help that single parent can get that I would have not thought of myself. The section for housing, the SNRHA is a public agency that provides housing for low income earning lives. (SNRHA) They have very strict housing requirements and a waiting list, which is hard for some and makes getting an affordable house harder to get but it is one of the easiest way to get a home. (SNRHA) Another section is food which luckily there are food stamps that help get free money for food. The money they provide with the food stamps they don’t provides ancho drinks or pet food. Cash is not an easy thing to have access situation, the parent will have to go through, since they must work very hard. To build a stability in another form is to go through an adult education program to study and take the GED test. There are many utilities single parents can benefit from, like TANF which is Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. This project connects to the quarter’s theme perfectly and growth and struggle was mainly what the parent will experience. The way the parent can grow not only as a parent but also as an individual for their child. They can learn ways to get better jobs which earns them a higher pay. Since most jobs require a higher education than just a drop out or a high school diploma they can get guidance to do that in life. To be able to provide a better life for their child is now more possible than ever. They don’t have to stick to a life of struggling and wondering where their next meal or paycheck will be. Being a single parent is already hard as it is and not knowing where to look is even worse.
Looking for help is needed if your struggling since you are trying to provide for an infant. Growing and learning is all a part of life, and by following these tips and information will for sure a decent life for a parent and their child. Many single parents would be surprised to what they qualify for. Help is only a phone call a way of a little research on what is needed. Many can find a cheap car or ways to get cheaper options for nutritious food. Even finding help on job training is available and helps the parent earn more money and help provide more for their child. That’s how this theme fits the anchor project growth and struggling with a single parent and their child.
