Computers are classified in different ways, mainly by purpose, size and working principles and all three types are listed below.
Analog computers – are often used in production environment and scientific designs and are implemented to deal with various calculations and solve problems that variables and constants with voltage. Digital computers - are much faster than analog computer and it process information in discrete form and dominantly based on mythologies, principles and applications by using the using the binary number system with accuracy.
Hybrid computer – exhibit characteristics of both analog and digital computers. Analog portion used for calculations and digital some are done in the digital part of the computer.
General Purpose Computers – These are mainly personal devices designed accordance to various applications. All computers follow the similar input, process and output model. They can execute different programs and store information in the internal storage system.
Special Purpose Computers – They are designed to perform single task to specifications. They have limited memory and the restricted input information are based on the operational system.Analog computers - are powerful tools to solve differential equations. They are mainly used in scientific design and production environments.
Mainframe Computer – Is an ultra-high performance computer and it is reliable and secure due to the redundant internal engineering. The have high storage, large in size and fast processing power.
Mini Computers – they are medium size devices and fill the space between the mainframe and microcomputer. They are mainly used for scientific applications and midrange servers businesses.
