Life of a Kindergarten Patrol

Have you ever wanted to be first in line? When children are in kindergarten, they push and pull every morning to be the first one to enter the school building when the school bell rings at 8:55 a.m. As a kindergarten patrol one morning, I noticed a student crying at the end of the line. His mother was comforting him as they walked pass me when I was holding the door for them to enter the school building. I curiously asked his mother why he was so sad. She explained to me that her son was supposed to be the line leader for that week. I assured his mother that I would make sure that he would be first in line the next morning. When everyone was lining up the next morning, I took his backpack and walked him to the front of the line. His mother thanked me for being so kind to her son.

As a patrol, I am alert to see that all students are safe and happy when they come to school. I am kind, courteous, and patient with kindergarten students when they have a difficult time separating with their parents in the morning. I try my best to cheer them up by playing games with them. I also deliver backpacks that are left out in the kindergarten playground every morning. I am responsible, thorough, and work well with other Cold Spring staff and patrol. For these reasons, I want to become a patrol officer next year to help my school and community.

I am qualified to be a patrol officer because I am responsible and I have held leadership roles. I am my class representative in third grade and in fourth grade. I also help out with the green team right after lunch to keep our school clean. As a patrol, I never lose my patrol belt and I always report to duty every day. I offer a helping hand when other patrols need help. When I am done with my duty in the All Purpose Room, I assists the flag post patrol(s) take down, fold, and put away the flag. I am a team player and I get along with other patrols.

Other than being a good patrol, I also do well in school. I get good grades and always turn in my assignments on time. I follow school and classroom rules, and I am friendly to everyone in my school and my community. I also have a loud and projecting voice. During patrol meetings, I can speak clearly to assure that everyone can hear me.

These are just some qualifications that I have to become your next patrol officer. I hope I can participate in helping the incoming patrols that are currently in third grade. As your next patrol officer, I hope to keep Cold Spring Elementary School a safe, happy, and fun place for all staff and students.
