What are the main principles of your life? Personally, I believe in fair treatment. Everyone deserves a chance, regardless of the color of their skin, the person they love, their political or religious beliefs, their political ideologies; everybody deserves a chance, for I find that, when given the chance ,people will surprise you in the most amazing ways. People I’ve prematurely judged as scary or rude in the past have been some of the nicest people in the world, and I’d have never known if I didn’t give them the chance to show it. When you continually expect the worst of people people will show their worst. Treat every new person you meet as a blank slate and let them fill it in for you, or, alternatively, don’t judge a book by its cover.
As a future zoology major, I believe heavily in the environment. Our world is on a path of irriversible destruction and unless people start taking action the world we live in will become the world our children or grandchildren won’t be able to live in. Do everything you can to stop this future. Visit zoos, visit aquariums, make donations, participate in beach cleanups, clean up the garbage in your house or out of it, and minimize your waste. Do all you can to ensure the Earth has its brightest future.
Do all you can to brighten the world around you. Don’t sit idly by when someone has fallen directly in front of you. If you see someone struggling with something offer a helping hand. Take all the volunteer opportunities you possibly can as early as you can, join clubs, join groups, or even work independently to better the lives of those around you, and put the world in a realistic light. When you’re looking at life through a darkened filter, don’t be surprised when all you see is darkness, and when you look at only the bright side of everything, you’ll become blinded to the darker truths our world holds.
Lastly ,find your friends in life. Your friends are not the people you met last week, or last month, or last year. Your friends are the people who have helped you through the brightest day and the darkest night, and these are the relationships you should fight to keep in life. Keep in mind that your biological family isn’t always your true family. Your true family are the people who unconditionally love you and try to help you through life, and while they can be your biological family, blood-relatives aren’t always going to be the most important people in your life. Those of us who are adopted or who have had a parent leave know this lesson well. Those who don’t stay with you aren’t important, but those special few individuals who have stayed with you in your life are your most valuable resource. Do all you can to be sure they continue to stay with you.
Overall life is a mixture of positive and negative experiences, and though many of the experiences we face are out of our control, there are some things you can control to improve your own quality of life. Never forget life’s dark sides, but don’t let them linger over you like a cloud, or all you’ll be able to see is life’s negativity. Treat others with respect, be a positive force in your community, and be sure to respect those who treat you with respect, and life will work out perfectly for you.
