High school is a time for learning and also where you prepare yourself to go to college to further your studies, but a high school education is far more than just academic. Years of school is the beginning of transition from childhood to adulthood and those four years bring many new ideas and experiences that it is almost impossible to forget. The one thing that I did learn is this, education is very important in our upbringing in life.
As student, the most important people in your life are your parents. We trust them to choose everything and as we grow into adulthood, I believe that we have broken those bonds and that we are making our own choices, but we really are not. Mom and dad still get us up, and still has to ask us to clean our room, do our homework and make sure to eat healthy food. They also pay our bills, tell us where to be and where not to be, get us to school, and in general, they are the most important person in our life. And of course, our friends are along for the ride. They determine who we should like, and who we should dislike. They know who the best sport teams, what the best movie is, and what the best social networking site is. And so, we add our acquaintances to the ever-growing list of “most important persons in our life”.
Then at some point in our life reality hit us and for many of us, this happens in high school. We have to become the person that is making all of these life decisions, and more. I learned how to study, how to write a paper, and how to take tests. I learned where to be and where not to be, for the most part. I learned how to clean my room, and how to feed myself. I learned how to drive and how to take a bus and how to be when and where I was supposed to be. But the absolute most important lesson that I learned was not how to do all of these things, but how to do them all by myself and for myself. I learned how to be the most important person in my life.
At end of the day you as person and a student, you have push yourself to be successful and make your parents proud in the process from a child to an adult. These life lessons taught me to be a better person as well towards any human being.
