What is “character assassination”, provide moral evaluation and implication of such behaviorby politicians in Pakistan? Strange are the ways in this land of the pure Pakistan, which at times stuns the world by bagging world records in various fields, be it sports, academia, technical and artisan skills, military professionalism, nuclear know-how charity, hospitality, or resilience to face the crisis.
On the other hand, it suffers from being the ‘most dangerous’ country in the world. Ignoring the strengths, all sorts of stigmas are pasted on Pakistan by powerful countries that are together to discredit Pakistan by shaming its people. It becomes easier for enemies of this country to beat Pakistan and disgrace its people because of moral weakness of the leaders, bad in quality role of the media who support to their propaganda, the rebels who happily play their games inside and outside the country, displeased politicians in opposition and so-called well-balanced elements who maliciously or unintentionally help them in accomplishing their evil agenda. As a substantial to multiple societal and political divides and lack of direction, the directionless society has gone off track and is suffering from moral decline. The original moral values, ethics, principles, honor and dignity that were once our strengths have washed-out and become stories of the past or the history. Respect for elders and love for the juniors have reduced. Some of the influential reasons behind this decline in moral depravity is the weakening of the three basic institutions – the home, school and mosque and neglect of the vital sector of education.
The three streams of education based on Madrassas, government schools and elite schools providing unequal means of social growth has kept the society diverse and lacking in spirit of nationalism. We as a nation as a whole considers themselves to be all-knowing and right and others wrong. No one bother to carry out self-analysis for self-correction as intended in Quran. We point fingers at each other and dig out faults, some real and mostly apparent. To embarrass our opponents, we resort to high handed tactics or lies and conspiracy. We feel no guilt in making scandals of others, in character assassination and backbiting of others.
