Understanding one’s psychological type through the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a way in which to identify and gain insight into strengths, weaknesses, gifts, and provide the opportunity to further self-reflect and self-analyze behaviors and desires. Within “What is understanding the self?” essay I will exaime myself via already mentioned model. Being highly attuned to the needs of others and demonstrating loyalty and trustworthiness are key attributes of this personality type that I find to be both relevant and of extreme importance to me. Displaying energy and enthusiasm for life are areas in which I have been given great affirmation and strive to utilize these skills to create and maintain close and genuine relationships.

Interests Assessment

The interests deemed most significant to me are those in the artistic, social, and investigate realms, with the remaining three being significantly lower, and therefore provided minimal clarity to my personal journey of self-discovery. The emphasis of these interests lies in being creative with self-expression, a supportive teacher, and a curious problem-solver. These have a clear association with the ENFJ personality type and provide further insight into suitable occupations.

Values Assessment

The values of most significance to me in the work place are support, relationships, and working conditions. Having an environment in which there is a team dedicated to supporting employees, serving others, as well as ensuring a positive and secure work atmosphere are extremely valuable to me, and further enhance the understanding of my personality type. In understanding the values of most importance to me, this will allow for an easier decision-making process in selecting a job site, which will ultimately lead to greater job satisfaction and inclusion within the workplace.

Success Factors

The success factors which were notably more significant were willingness to compete, time management, social support, and goal persistence. In evaluating these, I believe they are accurate and correctly reflect the areas upon which I have found the most success. The areas of least significance were self-esteem and external commitments; however, I do not believe that is an accurate portrayal of areas in which I am lacking in as I feel that I am proud of and have found satisfaction in these areas.

Summary

These self-assessment tools have provided further solidification of areas in which I thrive, as well as areas in which there is continual need for improvement. The values and characteristics highlighted based on the results of this personality inventory resonated with me and were established to be accurate, as well as provide confidence in my knowledge of self. Utilizing my natural abilities in the realm of communication, compassion, creativity, and organization, will be beneficial in establishing myself as a leader, and bettering myself in a personal way.
