What comes to mind when I think of a hero, without a doubt my family comes first but I decided not to write a whole speech on them but rather to take a different approach on my idea of a hero.
When I came across the time magazine titled a hero rises it caught my eye at first glance when reading the article that the title was based on it talked about the movie black panther. The article was about Chadwick Boseman, who has recently won the top prize at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild awards, he played the main character in the movie that took the world by storm.
Black Panther has become the first marvel cinematic universe movie featured on time magazine. The reason why this movie is so significant is because it is a superhero film that deals with the issue of being an African descent, the article then went on to explain that Hollywood has never produced a block buster this splendidly black.
T’challa, a hero known as black panther, the heir to the throne of his country Wakanda leads his people into a new future, he has to overcome a rival from his countries past despite having all the odds against him.
Normally I do not find myself taking any interest in this kind of genre or watching this kind of movie but this title got me thinking… what makes a hero a hero? Usually when you think of a hero you think of a person doing the most unthinkable whilst that is true, I honestly believe that a real hero is someone who is able to overcome their own silent battles even at the point when it seems impossible, pushing through is the ultimate challenge and if you are able to do that then your possibilities and opportunities are endless.
Recently I heard a profound idea that someone gave over… have you ever thought about the fact that you come into this world on your own and you leave this world on your own… a scary thought isn’t it?
At the end of the day you have to make life happen, if you don’t do it for yourself then who will do it for you? Growing up that is something that I have had to learn the most! To be able to rely on myself and not on others, when push comes to shove it is up to you to make sure you are on the path to getting where you want to go in this life. I have learnt that I have to be my own hero, to pave my own way on my journey through life.
