It is a fact that your surroundings including the people you surround yourself with are crucial to how a person grows throughout their life. If we environ ourselves with bad influences we tend to become alienated and uninterested in our futures. However, being around acceptable influences shapes us all into exceptional versions of ourselves and pushes us to strive for success. I learned everything I know in my life from those influential people around me, as well as my environment, which shaped me into who I am today.
I grew up in an Indian household where we had Indian food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My mother is a housewife who wakes up at five in the morning every day to cook for us. A few words to describe my mom would be understanding, patient, and loving. My mom has always been my rock and always will be. Everytime something went wrong in my life she always had my back. i remember one time in my sophomore year of high school Growing up, I wasn't very close to my Father because I always felt like he neglected me. He was always yelling and criticizing me and still does to this day. As I got older, my family helped me understand that he's very strict because he desires the best for me. I remember once when I was thirteen and I failed a math test which I didn't study for, and when my dad found out he took away all my electronics, and grounded me for three weeks.
At that moment, I was confused why he was making a huge scene about it and why his punishment was severe towards me. Later I realized that he was teaching me that I must give all my effort and never give up on anything I do. In other words, my father is someone who I will always look up to since he taught me a valuable lesson about the dedication necessary to succeed. Although he has characteristics that I dislike, I realize that there are various remarkable traits I should adopt. Through this, I am confident that I can apply myself and be able to achieve my goals. As a seventeen year old, i still have a lot to learn about life. My parents have shaped me into who i am today and taught me the important things i need to thrive. They both have showed me that empathy is the greatest virtue. I hope to adapt my parents positive qualities when i'm older.
