Homeschooling, also known as home education is the education of children at home or a variety of other places. Home education is usually conducted by a parent or tutor or online teacher. Many families use less formal ways of educating like: tutoring programs, dual enrollment options, and the most newly used method is homeschooling, it is when the parent do the actual teaching in the home, deciding what subjects and which curriculum the child will use. Parents also directly determine how the child’s progress will be evaluated, including grading, testing, and recordkeeping.

However, in today’s homeschooling world, it’s also possible to deviate somewhat from the traditional method by getting assistance from other outside educational sources. Even though homeschooling is more expensive than public schools, parents should consider homeschooling rather than public schools because they have more control over what their kids hear or see, and students can work at their own pace. Kids prefer to work at their own pace rather than strictly follow a syllabus. This generation’s Students learn by letting them progress based on their mastery of skills and standards. Grading methods in schools don’t determine ones intelligence, however students who are fast learners and more intelligent are being held back by their classmates because they all need to follow a common syllabus. Grade levels will not likely be eliminated anytime soon, but certainly the concept of individualized, self-paced learning whether that’s within a classroom grouped by age and grade level or by ability, aptitude, and interest is becoming more the cornerstone of quality education.

A study made by Clemmitt (2014) showed that those students who have the freedom to choose their syllabus and work openly with no restrictions are more likely to succeed and achieve their goals. When parents see that public schools can’t provide this kind of education then home schooling is definitely their solution. In other words, when students follow their own syllabus that is suitable for them and for their parents, they will accomplish more and improve a lot faster than if they were working with different classmates that have different intelligence levels. Correspondingly as Thomas (2016) claims that students who have their own space and those who can decorate their own study place, will work and progress a lot faster than those who are sitting in a place that they feel unsafe or uncomfortable in. In other words, I think that even if home schooling wasn’t an option on someone’s region, schools should provide comfortable and safe environment for all students and know what each student like and how each one can progress effectively. To sum up, when students are feeling healthy and comfortable and are not working just to fulfill someone else’s satisfaction , they can progress and improve themselves a lot faster.

Parents have more control over what children hear and see, they can protect their children from hearing, seeing, and experiencing negative things by not allowing them to be with people that they do not fully trust and know to be growing, godly people. Parents don’t always have their control over their kid’s relationships when they are at public schools, this could lead to unexpected results such as the kid learning immoral stuff and bad habits from his/her friends.

Most kids don’t like it when their parents interfere with their personal life, that’s why parents and children should have a strong relationship and a good bond in order for their homeschooling experience to be successful. A book named “Online, blended and distance education in schools” (2015) talks about how students’ and parents’ relationship is the key to a successful homeschooling journey, and that the kids involvement and experience from nursery to high school should all be amusing with no secrets with their parents. In other words , most of us children prefer to stay outside of our homes because of our relationship with our parents was corrupted and a failure. Similarly a study made by Wichers (2001) performed on many homeschooled students with their parents, states that most of them describe homeschooling as an adventure not a normal education method, and that children become more truthful and open with their parents when they form a strong bond together. Put another way, kids choose their path and way of dealing with their parents, when those children accept to be homeschooled they should be ready to have a lies-free relationship with their parents. To conclude, lies, bad habits, wicked relationships, all lead to worse connections with parents, though a worse experience while being homeschooled.

Some people might argue that homeschooling is more expensive than public schools. In public schools the government pays once. It pays the public schools (and any other schools supported by state funds) to provide the minimum possible in facilities, staffing, and materials. There are a lot of kids in the system. They have to keep costs down. They negotiate contracts, buy in bulk, and make one teacher and one textbook and one microscope work for as many students as possible. While homeschoolers pay twice. First, they pay the same share of taxes to support the public schools that everybody else does. Then, they pay a much larger amount for single-use textbooks and supplies bought one at a time at retail price. They pay full price for extracurricular, provide transportation and entry fees for field trips, and pay for testing and intervention for physical and intellectual challenges. A research made by Riley (2015) shows that, the parents of those kids who go to public schools are saving a lot more than those who get homeschooled. Said otherwise, when parents choose homeschooling they have to keep in mind that one of them is going to stay most of the time with the kid so that means one less paycheck that will maybe lead to financial issues.

Comparatively homeschooling is overrated based on the price given, and that people should choose public schools because they would be saving a lot money that can be used in a lot of ways even for their children benefit. Differently said, public schools should be considered instead of homeschooling because the money spent on homeschooling is not worth it.

The article The Cost of Homeschooling vs. Public School: Is It worth It is not credible and is missing some statistics though it cannot be accurate that public schools is better for all students. For all the things that are going for public schooling, it has a lot of faults. Public schools are geared to teach the average student. That means that students on either end of the scale get neglected. Gifted kids get bored and kids who are struggling keep getting left further and further behind. Class sizes are often very large. In most schools the class sizes average one teacher to 28 students, which can cause problems for many students, that’s why most parents prefer paying a little more money for their kid’s tuition if they are feeling healthier, safer and more comfortable.

In conclusion, parents who have low income and have normal students, homeschooling is not really an option for them, while those who have kids with special needs will definitely need homeschooling even if it’s more expensive than public schools. Parents whose jobs involve travelling throughout the year prefer this education option to balance family time and work. This form of education is excellent for children with special needs and talented children who need to develop their talents and study at the same time. Homeschooling allows a parent to give full attention and care to their disabled children. Parents choose homeschooling to help their children achieve more and do what they like especially in cases where a child has high IQ or is mentally or physically disables. In addition, parents consider homeschooling a perfect way of protecting their children from peer pressure that could lead to crime and drug addiction.
