I believe that man’s eternal quest for happiness naturally culminates into the search for truth, through knowledge. I wish to stand on the shoulders of the giants to look far beyond the horizons of present day knowledge of Electrical Engineering, with a hope that I can play a major role in changing the face of Indian panorama. I too want to be a part of this revolution rather than being a mute spectator. Learning is not confined to either a particular time in life or to any place, particularly the class-room; rather it takes place throughout our life and in a range of situations. My short-term goal is to gain expertise in Energy Management. In next 5 years, I would like to become an Energy Efficiency manager wherein I can manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Energy Efficiency (EE) and work on developing strategic solutions for global challenges in the industry and contribute towards my country’s growth. I am aware that such a goal requires confidence, global exposure and advanced knowledge; and thus seek a Master’s degree which I believe will allow me to gain all these and set me on a path towards my desired career.

I grew up under my father’s influence. He lit the fire of electricity in me. With just a short course from ITI, he always managed to do all the electrical works at home from fixing a fuse to connecting a fan, and I assisted him every time. I remember the first time I had to give the connection to a fan all by myself while my father walked me through the job. It felt exhilarating, working with a live wire whilst protecting myself from shock. It felt challenging. After finishing the job I couldn’t have been more proud of myself. That is when I decided I wanted to be an Electrical Engineer.

During my second year of Electrical and Electronics Engineering course, in an intercollegiate fest I made and presented a project on “Solar Optimal Power Generation” .When I won a prize in that competition beating most of the final year students, I felt encouraged to pursue further. I did my final year project on “Sensorless control of BLDC motor, using Hysteresis Comparator”.

In order to explore the different possibilities in the fields of both Electrical and Electronics Engineering, I joined as an intern at Ain Corp Security Solutions Private Ltd. It deals with Electronic Security systems, mostly installation and repair of devices. One thing which amazed me was how according to the customers’ demands they provided the same devices with different specifications and modifications. I was curious as to how this was done, and being an Engineer, I was more interested in the operation of devices rather than the installation. Hence, at Research Centre Imarath (RCI), Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam missile complex, at DRDO Ministry of Defence, Hyderabad I learnt the programming that needs to be dumped in Microcontrollers which is known as the brain of Electronic devices so that the device operates according to the commands we provide in the form of programming. Based on that I then did a project on “Capture and Analysis of PWM using PIC 18F97J60”

I underwent a Full time course of advanced training in “Automation, using PLC” at Advanced Training Institute (ATI). I also attended a training program on “Maintenance of 33/11KV SS (Substation), PTR’s (Potential Transformer’s) and DTR’s (Distribution Transformer’s), Distribution Network and SCADA” at Central Power Training Institute/APCPDCL, Hyderabad. I took a diploma course in CAD and ECAD at CANTER CADD Centre.

Apart from making untiring and sincere efforts in the academic field, I have always managed to take out time for Extra Curricular activities. When I was 12, One day during the physical training class, I was called upon to play basketball, because I was the tallest girl in class. And soon after that, I fell in love with the game. I then started competing in tournaments at school level. My team and I brought many accolades to the Institution and was a rather well decorated person. Apart from sports, I was part of NCC (National Cadet Corps) of which I hold an “A” Certificate. During my service to NCC I led the team of cadets through ATC (Annual training Camp) in which my team performed well in all the cultural and sports events that were conducted during the camp. I was also the Proud Flag Bearer during the republic day Parade. This boosted my confidence level which definitely contributed to my better personality and that added to the zeal in pursuing my ambitions and interests.

While my undergraduate studies have given me a strong foundation in my field, I feel that there is a definite need to build upon this base. So, I have decided to pursue master’s program (MEng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering. As, MEng offers exposure to a number of courses while, giving an industry oriented exposure. Thus, the combination of both Technical and course based Knowledge would build an effective personality which would help me develop an understanding of the principles that underlie the technologies of today. Consequently, I will be able to assess major advances in the future, and to lead these advances to develop innovative products and services that address the needs of local, national, international and global communities.

The educational institutions in Canada are known for their high academic standards and rigorous quality controls while offering a globally recognized master's degree. It is a well-known fact that Canada is the right place for students endeavoring to scale new heights of knowledge and specialize in any chosen field of study in general, and more particularly in such highly advanced subjects related to Electrical and computer sciences. Thus, the excellent academic environment combined with encouragement for hard work and merit, available for students in Canada makes it the first choice for anyone who would like to pursue a Master’s Degree.

Master’s program in Energy Management will allow me to gain in-depth understanding of Non-conventional energy sources, Energy Efficient building design Technologies, Electrical power Generation, Transmission and Distribution. As master’s programs are linked to the industry trends, I will also gain advanced knowledge of trending domains such as Smart Grids, FACTS, HVDC Transmission, Power Quality and Power System Stability. The Master’s program will also allow me to keep up with the fast-paced world of IT and give me the ability to design and create software solutions in accordance with the emerging technology trends and help me in gaining a global career in the field.

My interest for masters in this field makes Fairleigh Dickinson University a natural choice. Since the university is known for its excellent research facilities and an impressive faculty. I believe it would help me engage in research and consequently enhance the frontiers of science and technology by working in the area of Energy Management. I feel that, this is where I can truly accomplish what I’ve dreamt of. Besides, the program provides an opportunity to work on live projects with international firms, which is quite tempting. Moreover, my recent interaction with some of the current students has encouraged me to be a part of this esteemed university. If given a chance to study at your university, I would be deeply honored and would work diligently to make a positive contribution to the ongoing projects at your university.
