Why I Decided to Study Electrical & Computer Engineering

Making the world a better place to live in is the dream of any responsible and decent human being. I also do dream about making the world a better place for mankind, and the best place to start, without any contention is Concordia University. The amount of research that goes on here encouraged me to apply and I would like to be a part of making the future a better place through this university as my medium of higher studies. Also, growing up in Bangladesh restricted my ability to have a proper impact in the world but I believe with the platform provided by Concordia University I can finally live up to the potential my Undergraduate faculties and my parents believe I possess.

My research interests are not specific to a few topics but rather a wide variety of them. I believe that to innovate something one must have a wider vision and thus I prefer not to restrict my thoughts in a specific field but rather let the problems of the world determine which sides need new innovation to solve their problems. So, I believe that by studying Electrical and Computer Engineering (MEng) I could gain the proper knowledge I seek to advance towards my goals.

I have completed my Bachelor’s thesis on data transfer using passive optical network using multiple modulation technique. I even plan on getting a paper published on it as well. I also have a published paper on Investigation and analysis of features of Zigbee networking and have another paper accepted at the 6th ICIEV conference which will be held in Himeji, Hyogo, Japan on 1st to 3rd September.

I have selected Meng. in Electrical & Computer Engineering. As my interest lies in Communication and Energy System, this degree program is the only option for me to reach the heights of innovation I dream of. Also, due to my Electrical Engineering background from undergraduate, I have the basic understanding on which I could build upon.

After completing my Master’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering, I plan on going for my Ph.D. in the related field of my degree. This might be a long path but it is required for me to fulfill my desire to innovate and contribute to society. So, I plan on continuing my research to innovate for a better future.

I have completed my B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from American International University – Bangladesh. During the length of the course I have been constantly gathering knowledge about the new innovations that are being introduced. The ways of how they came to be and their actual impact in the world. Projects that come up on Kickstarter or Indiegogo, no matter how small maybe have improved people’s well-being. Then the internet is filled with video sharing medias, which shows off unique but helpful devices that help people with their daily life struggles, anybody would be inspired to make new useful devices. When I was doing my thesis, I have accessed lots of journals on communication systems as well as articles. I still continue to complete various interesting courses on edx.org to widen my knowledge. I believe my dedication and efforts would always help me achieve more in life and I hope that Concordia University would be my next step in achieving my goals of helping humanity.
