Why do I want to be a teacher? Ever since my senior year of high school, I realized what I wanted to do with my future, and that’s to become a teacher. The ability to change children’s lives is something that continually inspires me. The reasons why I want to be a teacher are deeply important to me because they would help me both mentally and physically. The first reason is to positively impact children’s lives in the classroom. Additionally, having ample time off during the school year serves as a strong incentive for me to remain committed to my lifelong career. Lastly, my family played a significant role in helping me decide what I wanted to pursue in the future. In life, I have realized that being an educator is one of the most valuable qualities to possess because teachers are always needed.
Impacting young kids’ lives is very special to me, which is why I aspire to be a first-grade teacher. It's easier to influence lives when students are young. As a teacher, I want to help children set future goals and motivate them to make positive choices in life, guiding them on the right path. By doing this, I will contribute to shaping their identities, boosting their self-esteem and potential. I want to make learning enjoyable, not a chore. Teaching the basics of writing and language is something I am passionate about because it’s a crucial skill for the future. Furthermore, creating a supportive classroom environment where students feel encouraged and understood is essential for fostering their growth.
Knowing that teachers get considerable time off makes me appreciate the profession even more. Summer vacation, holidays, and occasional weather-related cancellations provide valuable breaks. I feel these times are beneficial because they allow teachers to relieve stress, catch up on lesson plans, and prepare for the upcoming school year. Also, having plenty of time off gives children a break from schoolwork, allowing them to just be kids. During these breaks, I can also pursue professional development opportunities to enhance my teaching skills and stay updated with new educational strategies.
My family has been with me through it all, and helping me choose my major was one of their contributions. My parents often tell me, “You work great with kids,” and “There are never enough teachers in the district,” which motivated me to become a teacher. Most of my family works in the Indian River School District, so I will most likely work there as well. However, one concern my family and I share is whether I will be able to manage classroom discipline effectively, as I feel this is an area where I need improvement. This is something I am determined to work on throughout the years, with the support and guidance of my family and colleagues.
In conclusion, being a teacher with the ability to impact lives, enjoying substantial time off, and having a supportive family to encourage your dreams is invaluable. It ensures I never want to give up. Therefore, being an educator is the best job to have because I will never go unwanted. And why do you want to be a teacher?
