Inspired to Serve

As I was growing up, I always had a passion for helping people. Whether it was helping a friend with homework or lending a listening ear, I found joy in making a positive impact on someone's life. As I entered college, I knew I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to make a significant impact on people's lives. After exploring different options, I found my calling in the field of dentistry.

The moment that inspired me to pursue a career in dentistry occurred during my freshman year of college. My grandfather had been struggling with dental issues for some time, and the pain had become unbearable. After countless visits to various dental clinics, my grandfather's condition had not improved. The lack of attention and care given to him was disheartening, and I felt helpless in the situation.

One day, I decided to take my grandfather to a dental clinic where I had previously volunteered. The staff at the clinic treated my grandfather with respect, and the dentist took the time to explain every step of the process to him. The entire experience was a stark contrast to the previous ones, and I could see the relief on my grandfather's face. That was the moment I realized the importance of the dental profession and the impact it can have on people's lives.

Since that day, I have been determined to become a dentist and provide the same level of care and attention that my grandfather deserved. I have taken every opportunity to immerse myself in the field, from shadowing dentists to volunteering at dental clinics. These experiences have not only confirmed my passion for the profession but also strengthened my resolve to make a difference in people's lives.

I chose the University of Pennsylvania because of its excellent reputation in the field of dental medicine.
