Throughout my short lifetime of difficulties and discouragements, learning has been the one constant and one motivation that helped me stay positive in my life. College provides future students with all the tools a student must challenge him or herself and make the experience rewarding and memorable. Giving back to a community where innovative research is made sounds like a challenge to take be willing to require, whether it's contributing to the discussion or setting an example or being a leader. Since early childhood, I have been raised and taught to share and socialize. These values have perpetually been the core motivation to join student unions. As easier said than done, the knowledge that teachers give through lectures isn’t only the profound way to know about something. Joining the University of St. Thomas will be a bigger platform to advocate what I have: with those sharing common interests and faculty of study. Furthermore, I will be able to get the privilege of community service, foreign friends, and other significant opportunities a freshman like myself could choose to attend.
My background in leadership, teamwork and public speaking through my highschool can further increase the positive aspects I can bring around this faculty. I hope to inspire groups of strangers to work together towards a common ambition or perform a presentation in front of large people. I practice these skills almost daily for the debate team, working with my peers to research, write speeches, and perform them at weekly or monthly tournaments.
As a student of St. Thomas University, I hope to be surrounded by a more diverse group, people from vastly differing backgrounds. I expect this college to bring us together to celebrate diversity and culture but also to use the perception of many to solve the problems of the issues. Working with these diverse groups of individuals will allow us to weave our experiences to analyze problems and work to search out better results than any of us could as individuals. Some of these diverse people would be my faculty member; I’m excited to work more closely with those who have devotion for his or her research in and out of class. I also anticipate to the discussion and the eagerness to learn more. I expect the other students of the school to respect the community and work to not only maintain it but also to improve it.
I anticipate the chance to show leadership among groups of scholars. I hope to participate at school events like debate or speech where I can help other students from an equal platform, instead of from an area of superiority. I hope to do this through clubs, student government, and other extracurricular. The interconnected nature of St. Thomas University will help me grow as an individual, moreover as a student, and also the university will help me excel not only in my school work but also within the various communities I will be able to be a part of.
