MSc In Cancer Biology – An Important Step In My Medical Research

Since I was a child, both of my parents have had positive influence on my pursuit to follow the path of medical research. Both of my mother and my father are doctors working in hospital. More often than not, I hear stories in operation room, ward, or even ICU throughout my childhood. What people usually believe about hospital is that it is a place of illness, sickness or life threatening disease, but for me, hospital is a place where hope is. On the other hand, despite of his casual dressing style and attitude towards his patients in House M.D., I find Dr. House’s rich professional knowledge and medical experience admirable together with his spirit for tracing to the bottom of questions as well as seeking solutions to them, which enlivens my passion for further medical research.

During achieving my undergraduate degree, I expected myself to have more comprehensive understanding towards clinical medicine to contribute to this profession and to alleviate patients’ pain so as to benefit their health as a medical worker. The improvement of clinical medicine is vital in a field of research that is explored for the welfare of mankind’s physical health through diagnosing the causes and symptoms of illness, operating treatment, and carrying out treatment precaution. Subjects like Medical psychology, Medical genetics, Structure and Function of Human body, Biotechnology Experiment are all deeply appealing to me throughout undergraduate study. In addition, While it is know that cancer originated from malignant dermal tumor, which is one of the commonly seeing tumors, its cause is almost a mystery. It is not only a medical problem but also a biological one. Books including Genetics, Pathogenic Biology, and Biotechnological Experiment were what give rise to my interest to the cause of cancer and the mechanism of developing severe illness. It was during my college study when I realized that Genetics informs me with the correlation between genes and heredity, such as the concept of proto-oncogene and genes of cancer inhibition from the perspective of Genetics. My understanding to the cause of cancer, its mechanism, and rules of it are deepened by exploring reading and studying about physical structure of human organism along with pathology. By conducting Biotechnology Experiments, we are able to test theories or hypothesis in order to draw medical conclusion in biological experiments.

Pursuing a master’s degree in Medical Research is a significant step that I will take to further explore this fascinating area of study. Before that, I have always been looking forward to extending and deepening my understanding of Cancer Biology based on the competences I have developed in college as well as in my internship during which I attended to lectures and seminar to participate discussions about analysis diagnosis and classic cases held by department, reading CT, MRI, X-Ray, and Ultrasonic and writing report, took night shifts at emergency room, wrote prescription, and test report, collected patients’ medical history as an intern at Haifeng Community Health Service Station and Qing Dao Municipal Hospital. Combined with attaining undergraduate education, the internship experience bridges my academic comprehension of medical research with real life experiences. It is recognized that tumor is originated from our physical and biological tissue within our own organism. From the inspection of the abnormality of certain cell, it manifests that cancer tumor is the result of the malfunctioned cells as a matter of fact, which could be either benign or pernicious. According to various sources, tumors are mainly classified into dermal tumor, sarcoma, tumors growing on hemopoietic system or neuroderm. Several stages of tumors evolving themselves to an extent of incurable cancer in terms of their amplification in quantity, severity, and its metastatic lesion that all will be comparatively inhibited once we have certain solution to hold the amplification restrained and the metastatic lesion under suppression through researches, exploration and development among Medical Science, Health Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy and Pharmacology and so on by means of preparing dissertation, quantitative research, research thesis related to accomplish further advanced study in the near future.

I aspire to join its vibrant, close-knit academic community and conduct research following the instruction of seasoned faculty. Although further exploring the area ofCancer Biology is my priority choice, I look forward to getting access to diverse projects to enrich my knowledge reserve and research experiences. Meanwhile, I am willing to share my thinking and perspectives with my peers, hopefully, I can enhance my research capability and make achievements in my interested areas of research. Upon graduation, I hope to land a position in the local hospital or clinical institution as an attending doctor or a researcher of Cancer prevention. Obtaining a master’s degree in Cancer Biology at Cancer prevention will be the stepping-stone for me to reach my professional goal and make lasting contribution to this field.
