My Goal to Become an Innovative Engineer

All over the world today, the mechanical and manufacturing industries play a vital role in all areas of human existence, contributing about 85% of products to meet human needs - individual, social, corporate, domestic, mental, agricultural, health (medical), and industrial needs of the rapidly growing world’s population. With a major shift by multinational corporations and industries to the energy sector to cut down gas emissions in order to save the earth from ozone depletion, making it greener and habitable for humanity, I humbly request for an opportunity to be allowed to study Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Postgraduate Level (MEng.) at the University of Calgary, Canada, come Fall, 2022. With this opportunity, I can contribute my quota in meeting the global workforce demand required in this newly booming energy sector. For example, Total E & P is referred to as ‘Total Energies’, likewise many others with an interest in the energy industry – wind, solar, hydro, etc.

After carrying out a little research about your university and perusing through the course modules, academic requirements and admission criteria, I found out that your university is among the best Canadian Universities and provides a course that matches my career goals and aspirations. I have a strong mechanical, fabrication and manufacturing background in mechanical engineering, through classroom and practical academic lectures, intensive training and experiences gained while working in the airlinesaviation, manufacturing (production), and oil and gas industries, respectively.

During my undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering, I got a National Diploma, Higher National Diploma, and Bachelor of Engineering degree, respectively. My educational background, training and work experiences have prepared me physically, mentally and emotionally, with the right mindset, positive attitude and motivation to pursue this course from inception to its successful completion. And, I always finish what I start.

My motivation has always been my ability to study independently, and I strongly believe that the finest engineers must possess hard and soft skill-set, with the ability to succeed independently and as a team, work under pressure and perform efficiently in positions requiring leadership mentality.

I chose the Course-based MEng in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering because I am interested in career transition into the energy sector. This course will give me a better opportunity to put the knowledge gained to good use for my career advancement and all-round productivity. A place on this course will also allow me to reinforce and boost my previously developed skills while allowing me to gain many more essential abilities that will prove beneficial later in life.

In summary, I hope to be among the next generation of engineers that will pioneer more efficient and ‘greener’ technologies to make the earth a more inhabitable state for generations to come. Ultimately, I aspire to become one of these innovative engineers and I sincerely hope a degree from your University, along with the transferable skills that I have gained through my experiences will be the supporting basis for this aim, with an undying desire to contribute my quota to the teeming, endless and insatiable human needs, even as the world’s energy demands grow rapidly daily.
