Trying to justify my love for medicines in all these years, I’ve moulded myself to be more of a practical and less of a usual undergrad craving for grades.
Ever since I was a child I used to wonder what is a tablet and how does it work in a human body? how it treats major or minor ailments? why are these in different colours? I felt that chemistry is more interesting, so I started working on my chemistry since my 10th standard by doing carbon nomenclature briefly day and night to know the truth behind the formulation, so more interestingly inspired by that I ended up taking biology and chemistry in my 11th and 12th standards. The chemistry concepts, theory, practical labs made me more curious and interested towards chemistry field where I ended up taking Pharm in Deccan school of pharmacy one of the highly reputed and demanded college of my state which stands second position in my city by qualifying in state level entrance exam (eamcet) by scoring individual 32/40 in chemistry for my undergraduate programme.
Having taken up Pharmacy branch in my undergraduate degree, I always felt that knowing more chemical reactions, formulation methods is all I need to do quench my thirst for medicines. My high school had a curriculum which consisted of chemistry concepts, theory and practical labs and I had scored 32/40 individual in chemistry in my competitive exam to become the highest scorer in my high school. With that concept running in my veins, and the interest I had grown for chemistry in my high school, I started going deeper into nomenclature of organic compounds. I always followed the ‘Do It Yourself’ mantra.
Learning medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology & pharmaceutical chemistry in undergraduate degree was a big boost as it was a mixture of mechanism of action, formulation and nomenclature, classifications. I learnt that the following years were completely based on it. During this period I carefully focus my passion for chemistry physical & medicinal. Chemistry is such a branch that any person who has a heart to feel and mind to understand its profundity and applications, and heedful of its diversity and expansiveness. Research on the chemistry of living things spurs advances in medicine. The most important development in Chemistry that mesmerized me and excited me was use of Nanotechnology for the well being of mankind and also De novo Synthesis which has proven to be a powerful tool to overcome various difficulties in synthesis of new chemical entities.
My course as part of undergraduate study has helped me in acquiring a firm footing in topics such as Medicinal Chemistry, Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy, Anatomy & Physiology, Dosage Formulation & Design, Forensic Pharmacy, Chemistry of Natural Products, Pharmaceutical Analysis, PharmacoInformatics, Pharmaceutics, Cosmetic Technology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Pharma Cognosy, Bio Chemistry, Bio Technology, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Micro Biology, Bio-Pharmaceutics & Pharma Kinetics, Mathematics, Basic Computer Applications, Pharmaceutical Business Management.
This course is all about study of drug and development of life saving remedies. I would love to learn more about the process of drug discovery, delivery, drug formulation and drug chemistry. As these help to improve the quality of patient care and treatment outcomes.
I personally believe that masters in good ethical university is the initial vital step towards success to which I aspire. After reading through the graduate programme literature and the Department website, I'm convinced the faculty in your university is excellent and the environment is highly conductive for education and research.
