A Calling to Lead

As a child, I always admired the way my father handled his business. He was a manager at a local company and his leadership skills always left me in awe. His dedication to his job and his employees inspired me to pursue a career in management.

After graduating from high school, I knew I wanted to study business, but I wasn’t sure which field to specialize in. I spent my freshman year exploring different options and taking a variety of classes. However, it wasn’t until I took my first management course that I knew I had found my calling.

What excites me about studying management is the ability to work with people and to help them reach their full potential. I believe that great managers not only help their employees grow, but they also foster a sense of community within their workplace. I have always been passionate about working with people and I am confident that a career in management will allow me to do just that.

At Drake University, I am particularly interested in the Management program, which has an excellent reputation for providing students with a well-rounded education in the field. I am impressed by the program’s emphasis on real-world experience and its commitment to helping students develop their leadership skills.

In addition to the Management program, I am also excited about the opportunities available through the university’s Business Career Center. The center provides students with valuable resources, such as resume reviews and job search assistance, as well as access to a variety of networking events and career fairs.

One of my goals is to intern at a local company during my time at Drake. I believe that gaining hands-on experience in a real-world setting is crucial to developing the skills needed to succeed in the business world. Additionally, I plan to participate in student organizations related to management, such as the Society for Human Resource Management, to further develop my skills and build connections within the industry.

Looking to the future, I hope to one day become a manager at a company where I can make a positive impact on the lives of my employees. I want to create a work environment that fosters growth, encourages creativity, and values diversity. I believe that with hard work, dedication, and a strong education from Drake University, I can achieve this goal.
