Engineers have the ability to shape and affect the world we live in more than anybody else. I plan to become one of these individuals and function on a wide scale. This is why engineering essay and I will explaine why. This fields broad application excites and motivates me to devote myself to this course. Since an early age, I have always been a hands-on individual with the potential to put things together and help fix practical issues. However, my curiosity grew when I got a chance to help create a wall in an backyard, and this was also my first ever paid job.
Currently, I am studying engineering at the California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo at a diploma level 3 which has improved my writing and evaluation skills and has enabled me to gain knowledge about the different aspects of the course. As a coursework-based subject, it includes working under pressure and to deadlines, improving my time-management skills and helping me to organise myself. My knowledge with various subjects has helped me to excel well at an academic front. Especially, my command and knowledge acquired in subjects like mathematics, mechanical and electrical principles, Auto-CAD and electric fault finding.
What is needed to be mentioned within why do you want to be an engineer essay is that my talent undeniably lies in mathematics. It has allowed me to develop my logical and problem-solving abilities in making professional decisions that are helpful when applying my principles as appropriate. Currently, I am working on a project to utilise my free time during lockdown. Electrical fault finding is challenging and quite good in improving problem solving skills, it facilitates me when I do practical work. Studying Auto-CAD gave me creative talents and showed me how to design items alongside manufacturing a product physically. I have firm belief that with all the knowledge and skills acquired, I have the technological expertise to become an amazing civil engineer. When I set a goal, I show persistence until I accomplish it. I frequently take part in a variety of volunteer events to find out about people around us and to appreciate their ideas from their viewpoint.
My volunteering work at Humanity First and Royal Trinity Hospice has strengthened my social and management abilities and used my capacity in most cases to suggest innovative ideas. I have been doing homeless feeding in Charing cross for the past 5 years, collecting charity and taking part in charity walk in Hyde park for different associations. I have an authoritative role within my religious community in which I cover over 8 areas of which involves me leading approximately 400 individuals from age 12-40. Tasks that I have carried out include street clean ups at different occasions such as new years. My work has taught me how to balance my time so that I can enjoy non-academic activities. It offers me a chance to understand the world and what it has offered me, and what in exchange, I can offer this world. I have worked in retail marketing group which was a good experience that made me confident and improved my communication skill. My religion encourages me to do as much voluntary work I can therefore I participate in our yearly international event known as Jalsa Salana. My job during this event is to help people who come from different countries. I like to keep myself busy so currently I am working at domino's as a delivery driver.
In my free time I love to exercise and keep an interest in photography. I love to play football with friends in a friendly or competitive match. This has helped me gain resilience which is an important part of engineering. I firmly believe that civil engineering is an area where my talents can be better applied. I am fluent in Urdu, Punjabi and English where English is my third language. Learning English whilst studying for my GCSEs was an even greater challenge that I enjoyed facing and that I overcame.
In conclusion to why I want to be an engineer essay, I feel myself capable of obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering because I am confident and have the skills and qualities required. After extensive study, conversation with students, it is a commitment that I am willing to undertake.
