A Level Maths has improved my problem solving and logical reasoning skills which will prove useful in Pharmacy when calculating dosages to dispense medication. Developing advanced problem-solving skills has enhanced my attention to detail and taught me to never to overlook a specific part in a question - this concentration and commitment is something that I can be apply when offering advice to a patient as it ensures no side effects or drug interactions are overlooked. My A Level in Physics has enhanced my communication as the practical element of the course requires effective teamwork. The experimental side of Physics has also required me to be disciplined, particularly when following strict safety procedures which contribute to the precision and accuracy needed when working within a dispensary. A Level English Literature has advanced my analytical and critical thinking as in many situations it has required me to collate different sources of information to examine in order to make an informed decision. This ability to make an accurate and thorough decision can be transferred to a Pharmacy setting when conducting clinical checks.

The Science Foundation Year has allowed me to develop skills and knowledge in the fundamental concepts of Chemistry and Biology. The recent topic on Acids and Bases in Chemistry led me to research how pH affects the solubility of drugs. The research also enabled me to combine concepts covered in the Biology module when researching how drugs either being lipophilic or hydrophilic affects their distribution. Having the opportunity to carry out practical sessions in the lab and learn how to write lab reports has greatly improved my ability to become more independent and accomplished in lab settings.

Throughout college, I had a part time job in Boots in Manchester Airport. This fast-paced environment has taught me how to work well under pressure and remain calm and organised in stressful situations. During my time here, I was nominated for a 'Colleague Care' award for demonstrating excellent customer care and working well within a team. During the Coronavirus pandemic, I had the opportunity to assist in a Boots Community Pharmacy where I was able to shadow a Pharmacist and Dispenser. The Pharmacist explained the importance of entering all Schedule 2 Controlled Drugs into the register and I observed the Pharmacist and Dispenser dispose correctly of a patients unwanted medication. Within this pharmacy intern cover letter sample I want to mention that since moving to Pittsburgh, I have taken the opportunity to train as a Pharmacy Advisor in a local Boots Pharmacy. My new role involves accurately dispensing medication, taking in and handing out prescriptions whilst adhering to the standard operating procedures and consulting with local GP surgeries to ensure the best care is provided for the patient. The role also involves working across the healthcare counter, counselling patients on the most appropriate over the counter medicines to ensure they are safe and suitable to take.

Studying Pharmacy at University of Pittsburgh would be an excellent opportunity to develop into an accomplished Pharmacist. The extensive placement opportunities in the different sectors of Pharmacy and opportunities to develop counselling and dispensing skills in the simulated Pharmacy drives me to gain the knowledge and understanding needed to excel as a Pharmacist.
