This first month of university has been very important from both a social and an academic point of view; it was like an adjustment period where I had to integrate into a new city, live with roommates, organize my time better and manage all of my duties on my own. Regardless of some bumps along the way, I could happily say that my adaptation to this new student life went well. Within the essay about studying I will share my feedback about my first month at the Bradley University.
In addition, I could say that, already in this first month, I met some of my objectives on how I would like to shape my life towards the adulthood period. From an academic point of view, I can also say that the university life met my expectations, however, I think I have to work more on some studying skills, such as concentrating more when studying to be more efficient and managing the time in a more productive way.
As I said before in this university studying essay, there are still some areas I need to work on, one of which is very important to achieve the grades I want: learning how to study quickly and effectively; for now I read the chapters of the book, highlight and take notes along the way, however, is not that efficient when it comes to remembering hundreds of pages of different topics; therefore, I am considering taking one of the courses on studying skills. I think that throughout this course I may discover new ways of studying and/or improve mines; I think it is only an added experience rather than one worth discarding. What I also want to share in this essay about studying is that during this first month at the Bradley University, I have experienced what a university exam looks and feels like, giving me the possibility to come across my weaknesses and my strengths. From this midterm exam I have understood how much practice is needed in order to improve my mathematical skills when I have a time limit; one of my strengths/weaknesses is that I’m a perfectionist and that takes me a lot of time when doing things, often not being able to finish it all.
From the social point of view, I found a group of friends in which I find myself at ease; I think we are getting closer and closer every day; there is that feeling of “complicity” and immediate understanding, which makes us very united. Sometimes we meet and “study” (maybe), cook, play, drink or hang around; but when it comes to studying at the university everything changes, we are concentrated and we try to get things done so that later we can go out. From my point of view, studying at the university library is very helpful as there is silence and there is a positive studying environment; however, sometimes I get easily distracted from my phone or by some things going through my mind. This is one of the aspects I absolutely want to improve, along with my on-school work time and my off-school life. Currently, I am wasting too much time by not having my study periods organized throughout the week and the end term exams are getting closer and closer every day. I think it may be a good time to start focusing on the exam topics…
In conclusion to essay about university, I can say that I am pleased with what I have been able to achieve so far and that there is room for improvement. During this first month there were unsurprisingly difficult times and easy times, yet both of them fruitful in some respects. This first month has been very important as I learnt more about my strengths and the skills I need to improve. This first month’s objective of getting used to the new social life and the Bradley University’s environment has been achieved, now focusing on improving my studying skills and my time management.
