The Pursuit of Cybersecurity Excellence: My Journey to Purdue University

I am keen to have a comprehensive background in cybersecurity at Purdue University school of Polytechnic Institute. This is to say that, Purdue University has a sophisticated educational environment and a lot of opportunities, internships that will allow students to develop their knowledge and take part in activities that motivate us to learn new skills. First, in this Purdue University Supplemental essay I will write about how I succeed to get a full scholarship from the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) to study cybersecurity major that was unavailable in my previous university as one of the reasons that led me to transfer to Purdue University and second, applying cybersecurity research in the real world as one of the main goals that I want to achieve.

First of all, because I worked very hard in my high school studies, my grades were very high, also I got very high grades which are in two tests General Competency Test (GAT) and Scholastic Achievement Admission Test 98% and 99% respectively. They are standardized tests, such as, SAT and ACT exams in the USA. As a result, during my studies at King Saud University, I received a full scholarship from the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) to study my dream major in the United States of America. Cybersecurity was a new discipline in my country so that the universities did not offer a cybersecurity program for a bachelor’s degree. Although my former university did not offer a cybersecurity major nor Purdue University’s labs and research center, my professors there taught me research skills that will help me to succeed at Purdue University.

In the rankings, it is obvious that Purdue University has a decent reputation, and it is ranked top in the cybersecurity program according to cyberdegrees.org. I attracted by Purdue University's plan of study that offered an interesting syllabus, such as, network security and cryptography that will give me depth knowledge in analysis security protocols and understanding fundamentals to ensure data in digital frameworks. In addition, Purdue University has cutting edge labs that allow me to have real-world experience. The Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS), and cybersecurity & forensics lab lead by outstanding leaders like professor Marcus Rogers, there are many ways that will let me acquire my objectives at Purdue University that will not be available in other universities. Particularly, I want to build IT systems to help companies and people from the threats of cybercrime via testing risks, vulnerabilities and build a new security protocol.

To conclude my Purdue University application, this university supports mentioned values through funding research and labs that concentrate on cybersecurity subject. I seek forward to participating immediately with my professors on their cybersecurity research and making an effort towards being a valuable and useful member of Purdue University's cybersecurity community.
