The objective of this school project was to create our ideal version of a school. We turned in a trash can."Our project was inspired by the Dada artists, who are known for their use of readymade (everyday objects) that were displayed as 'art.' This avant-garde movement sparked questions about the definition and purpose of art. Aesthetics were only secondary to the thoughts transmitted. Whether it confused you or made you angry, it made you feel something. Isn't that what art is about? Isn't that what school should be about? To think and express your ideas?"Behind the scenes:My group members sat in silence as we stared at our broken project. We had ten minutes until class started, but no one moved.Seven hours of hard work were now crushed under the weight of a car seat.As I gathered the pieces to throw away, I found a solution. I grabbed the trash can. It had the perfect dimensions and shape. It wasn't the best idea, but it was our only chance of passing. My group members got the memo and scavenged scraps of paper to recreate our masterpiece. We had a product. All we needed now were words to convince the audience that this trash can was the perfect school.Creativity is an instinct. It prepares us for the unpredictability forced upon us by life. As the situation demands, I adapt to chaos, embracing it as the adrenaline shoots through my body, causing my brain to spew out ideas. Any idea is a good idea as long as the execution is flawless. This experience refined my unflappability as I take on the world with confidence. I express my creativity with the words I speak, turning any situation into an uplifting circumstance. To me, creativity is the ability to make something out of nothing; for instance, I recycled the trash can. It is a state of mind - nothing is confined if you open your mind to the possibilities. Allow chance into your life because only then will creativity arise.
