Sitting in my father’s lap in his study… while he was busy on the phone was one of my favorite thing to do as a child. I would often hear from him words like money, investments, risk management, capital, liabilities, etc. For me, a young boy who had no idea of the business world, these words fascinated me. I would ask him numerous questions about them. He would patiently answer me, even though he knew I wouldn’t understand even a little bit of it.
As I was growing up, that things he explained to me started to make sense. I began going to the office with him, spending more time together while we were engrossed in balance sheets and exploring ways of expanding the family business. Coming from a family that runs a business, it was quite evident that I too would be interested in the same someday. I was born in Patna, Bihar which is the hub for my father’s business. But he decided to move to the capital city of Delhi to provide me and my brother the best quality education and experience.
Growing up, I was always amazed by the business world and as days passed the urge to be a part of it only became stronger. I had the chance to gain insight work experience, something even the best textbooks fail to provide at times. My goal has always been to become a successful businessman like my father. From a very long time, I have waited to study the subjects that would lead me closer to realizing my dream.
In high school, when I had to choose a stream my decision was obviously commerce as it helped me learn the basic concepts of business, management, organization and so on. Words like critical thinking, analyzing the market, target, profit or loss that earlier fascinated me now became a prominent part of my life. I want to be the kind of businessman who doesn’t just focus on maximizing his profits but also contributes to the development of the community and others in the organization.
I strongly believe it should be obligatory for every business to help the society and the people in it; something I have learned from my father. I always try to contribute and give back my fair share through participating in various volunteering drover. From being a part of the drive to each underprivileged student to helping them understand the need for basic sanitation and helping them learn soft vocational skills, I have taken a part in all.
Studying business management will offer me an opportunity to acquire the professional skills I need in the early stages of my career. It would also help me improve my skillset like leadership, communication, decision making, critical thinking, etc and have a better understanding of the world economy.
London is one of the world’s leading financial centers for international business and commerce. It is also one of the command centers for global education. What better place to study Business Management if not the U.K.? Having the opportunity to study my program here would prove to be all sorts of beneficial for me. An economy like the U.K. will help me learn to deal with various business situations in a better way. This degree program will give me a better understanding of the business world which will be vital and invaluable for my future. Universities in the U.K. are known for their facilities, resources, world-class faculty and of course experts from the business world. I look forward to the day I am given a chance to pursue the program of my choice at a university in the United Kingdom.
