A Personal Process of Achieving Success in Writing Skills

I never liked to write. I found myself uninterested every time I was required to. I felt the urge to give up and turn in whatever I had whether it would be good or not. I only know basic writing, like writing a paragraph for a school assignment or for my homework. I usually struggle on big essays like the one I’m writing right now. I most likely will struggle with writing until I gain a better understanding on how to organize a writing piece. I know I'll be a well rounded writer by the time I have to write my resume, letters, and constructing emails for my work.

My goal is to become the best writer I am capable of being. Entering high school, I was lacking skill to construct PEA essays and book essays. Despite all my effort I would struggle to earn a rewarding grade. This left me feeling discouraged and unmotivated. I would rely on the internet to help guide my essays because I never knew how to write properly. Through trial and error and continued diligence on my part I am confident that I have the potential to become a good writer.

Last semester of writing and research taught me important writing skills. My English Literature class guided me through a different perspective on writing. As part of my assignment, we were required to read a different book and write a literary analysis paper which was due the following week. Having to write on a frequent basis due to this class I began to notice that I was gaining a better understanding on how to write constructive essays and convey my thoughts more effectively. Where earlier I lacked confidence in my writing skills, I noticed I started to feel more comfortable with my writing assignments. I started to look forward to my English class knowing that I was getting better over time. My understanding of English grammar, sentence structure, and proper organization improved with the help of English class. As a student who used to struggle to write effectively and earn a good grade, I completed the class with a low B grade. This is a marked improvement for someone like me who is making a C. 

Overall I realize I still have a lot to learn and ways to go before I become an excellent writer. It is possible to overcome adversity by accepting your problems and turning it into a triumph. I am still in the process to succeeding this right now.
