When the writer Dan Brown published his novel, “The Da Vinci Code,” in 2003, it was the best seller. The first book in the Robert Langdon series was published by Simon in 2000, takes place before “The Da Vinci Code,” it does not matter which book you really read first. Both books surrounded around conspiracies about the Catholic Church, but mostly action in, “Angels and Demons” takes place in Rome, and the Vatican.
The two books differ in setting, threat, and focus. While The Da Vinci Code tackles ancient speculations about the Holy Grail, Angels and Demons involves more standard thriller fare. It puts science and religion into conflict by reviving the Illuminati, a secret society of scientists and freethinkers whose relationship with the Catholic Church has long been, Brown indicates, intimate, tangled, and not fully known. This secret society returns as a threat when the major church leaders are gathered at the Vatican to elect a new pontiff. Increasing this centuries-old tension is a more specific threat. The Illuminati claim to have stolen a rare sample of antimatter and hidden it somewhere in the Vatican. It is highly explosive if it comes in contact with normal matter, and it will do so when a protective magnetic field runs out in twenty-four hours. Add to this the fact that the four preferred candidates for the papacy have been kidnapped, and the result is that Robert Langdon must decipher a grand puzzle and save the day while half a dozen clocks are ticking. Although the novel’s style is melodramatic, and its exposition and moral judgments are heavy-handed, Angels and Demons remains a first-rate thriller.
Angels and Demons was an amazing read. The characters are thoroughly fleshed out with their own unique personality and emotional drives that keep them focused on their goals. The story itself is very plot-driven and the suspense never seems to end. If you enjoy novels in which many plots all come together to form a great story or you simply like action-packed thrillers, pick up Angels and Demons and get comfortable. You are going to find it hard to put this book down.
A brilliant page turner for readers who love brilliant storyline and drama. Angels and Demons is an outstanding thriller, mystery and crime fiction by Dan Brown, is also the writer who wrote “Da Vinci Code.' The book has the same hero, Robert who is a professor and is set in the cobbled street of Europe and the Vatican City. The story is set in CERN (One of the biggest physics centers of the world) in Geneva, Switzerland where a physicist working on antimatter is killed by someone with the word Illuminati branded on his chest. Antimatter in real life is the most highly rated substance, and it prices about 62.5 trillion dollars to make one gram of it and it must be preserved in cases where it cannot touch any matter or the process of annihilation would create a higher level of mess in strength than any atomic explosion. Robert Langdon a professor who is also well-known for his studies on Illuminati he is on a mission to find the murderer of physicist. He is attended by the physicist's daughter with whom he ultimately falls in love. An antimatter bomb with the antimatter stolen from the lab of the physicist is found in Vatican building where the cardinals from all around the world are gathering for the pope elections in the enclave however, the four popes have been kidnapped. Robert and his companion go through the streets of Vatican and Rome to stop the killer from murdering the last pope. The antimatter bomb has a timer which would set off the bomb which gives additional suspense to the story. The story is sometimes a bit loose and has too many details, problems take longer to solve as compared to Da Vinci Code. Overall, it's highly recommended to anyone who loves a great thriller and also, it gives us information about the secret society Illuminati.
I am also the bigger fan of this story because the writer unmasks the Illuminati agenda, and this story tells reality of this fantasy world. I am highly recommended reading this book and also see their movie.
