A Review of The Book Hiding Place

The story takes place in Holland with some parts of the book in Germany during the II World War. It is fundamental to the story because the event of the war takes Corrie and her family to take action in the war. I would have to say that it was important because it was during those testing and brutal times that they had these challenges that in the way they decided to take it in, they were able to see God´s love for his people clearer than ever before. The Nazis want to kill or attack the Jews, because it was an order of their commandant Hitler. Corrie and her family were from Holland and they decided to help all the Jews by keeping them in their house in a secret place. “Father those poor people!”. She is saying that the Nazis want to kill poor people that did not do anything to them.

The war was in front of them and they first don’t know what to do or if they need to help those poor people that Hitler and the Nazis were killing. They decided to help that people, and to do that they build a secret place in their house. “How should a Christian act when evil was in power?”. First they maintain the Jews in their house, but the days pass and the war doesn’t stop, and with the time some of the soldiers start to discover what was happening in that house. At last the soldiers discover what they were doing in the house of Corrie, they decided to send Corrie and her family to jail, because they help the Jews maintaining them in her house. The family of Corrie stays a lot of time in jail. “And so I learned that love is larger than the walls which shut it in.” 

I like this book because I know that are people that help another without an interest, if they have money or if they will receive something else with the help that they are bringing. This is the case in the Hiding place, Corrie and her family help those poor people that in reality they don’t have the necessity to do it. They know what will be the consequence if they help that people and with all of that they do it. They know if a soldier saw a Jew in their house or someone go and said it to someone else they will be in problem. “You say we could lose our lives for this child? I would consider that the greatest honor that could come to my family.” 

If someone asks me whether the Hiding place is a nice book to read and it is no boring, of course I will said that is one of the best books that I ever read. I assume this because I like wars and this book talks about a war between Jews and The Nazis. First of all the book doesn’t said that the Jews made an attack to the Nazis, that can be like a war between them, but with the only thing that the Nazis were attacking the Jews that is a war. I also like this book because were the war take place, I like that country and I like all the places in there. If I need to read the book another time I will do it, because I really like that book and all the events that in it happen.
