Tourism leads to the growth of service sector. The services sector engaged in tourism benefits the most out of the tourism sector. For instance, in the United States, most businesses engaged in the service sector, such as, the airlines, the hotels and surface transportation grow as the tourism industry grows. Chicago receives tourists each and every year. The city had the highest number of tourists in 2015 (46,200,000), the number it has never recorded before. As tourists visit a country, they are provided with hospitality services, majorly from hotels in the host countries. This is important to the hotels since they get more amount of revenue that may be used to expand the hotels. With a highest number of tourists in 2015, the number of Chicago hotels grew. Good examples are Chicago Vacation Rentals that accommodated the tourists at certain amount of fees as set by the management of these rentals. Therefore, tourism helps to improve the growth of the service sector (World Travel & Tourism Council, 2015).

Tourism, just like any business venture has disadvantages. It affects the culture of the country. As the tourists visit new countries, they leave the natives trying to copy the lifestyle and the culture of the tourists. A good example is the Bahamian culture that has been affected by tourism. The Bahamians have become too Americanized and this has made them to lose they identities. Most of Bahamians have opted to become actors, rappers and singers, and this is the things they see done by Americans who often come to Bahamas (Reese-Crofton, 2013).
Tourism strains the available resources in a country. For instance, the strain on the water and electrical supplies to Nassau/Paradise Island is believed to be caused by increased tourism in the area. This area is in Bahamas. Earlier, water and sewage provided adequate electrical energy and water to the residents of the Island. However, as more and more tourists have habited the area, this has increased the demand for water and electricity. This implies that as the number of tourists increase in the area, the more the demand for water and electricity resources (Reese-Crofton, 2013).
