Introduction

The White House has been threatening the funding for foreign aid in 2020. They have proposed a 23% cut. The budget will go from $52.5 to $40 billion. The government has been garrulous about foreign aid. The United States is one of the countries with the most ostentation. Foreign aid is money that one country transfers to another to help the country with resources they might lack or need. The question arises: should America continue to provide foreign aid to other countries?

Should America Continue Providing Foreign Aid?

America giving foreign aid to other countries benefits America because if the roles were reversed and America was the one in need of aid, other countries could reciprocate. They can help us because we helped them when they were in need. For instance, America gives $5.7 billion to Afghanistan. Afghanistan received $5.7 billion from the U.S for conflict resolution, peace, and security, which is the highest amount they have donated. This assistance helps to mitigate their problems and strengthens diplomatic relationships. Additionally, America provides aid for energy, conflict, peace, and security initiatives. This support helps America build alliances and have countries on their side. Without foreign aid, these countries would begin to enervate and not progress.

If America decides to cut foreign aid, the countries will look elsewhere for resources. Other countries would feel that America is not bolstering them, which means that America would lose all ties with those nations. Foreign aid is a pragmatic way for the U.S to assist other countries that need help. For example, Iran does not have any ties with the U.S, so if they need resources or want trade, they can do it with other countries that also don’t have ties with the U.S. America would lose resources that they would otherwise obtain from these countries. Losing allies and resources would be detrimental because America already has enemies, and if they decided to attack, the lack of military support from other countries would affect America.

Humanitarian Impact and Global Perception

America giving foreign aid to other countries not only helps those in need but also enhances America's global image. Countries that receive aid often express gratitude, which strengthens diplomatic relations. For example, when Puerto Rico had an earthquake, there was a whole conflict over whether America should provide aid. This was a very lucid problem. If America decided to help, the Puerto Ricans would be immensely thankful and feel assuaged. They would become loquacious about America's generosity. Puerto Rico getting help in such a time of need would make them and other countries feel safe and placated. Furthermore, providing aid showcases America's commitment to humanitarian values, which can lead to increased goodwill and cooperation on the international stage.

Conclusion

To conclude, America should continue to provide foreign aid to other countries. The decision to cut foreign aid or lower the budget is a highly debated topic. Many people have different opinions on whether America should continue foreign aid. However, foreign aid is money that one country transfers to another, to help them with resources they might lack or need. Continuing this practice not only supports those in need but also fortifies America's global standing and diplomatic relationships.
