Has anyone ever wondered how biotechnology has become a part of everyone’s lives, and how this will keep leading the world towards a better and brighter future? Over the past 10,000 years, biotechnology has been used in many ways. Biotechnology has been applied to numerous problems regarding medicine, industrial, and agriculture. Since the beginning of agriculture, farmers and gardeners altered the genetic code of organisms even if they were not aware of it, at the time. In the past people manipulated the genetic information of various organisms by separating out one plant (for instance) that had a poor temperature resistance. Let’s say that a farmer grows tomatoes and at night it gets so cold that by morning half of the tomatoes are frozen and it cannot be sold to the markets anymore. This is what scientist wanted to change the genetic modification. They figured out a way to take DNA from one organism and put it inside a completely different organism, to introduce a desired and specific outcome.

As its simplest, biotechnology is an approach to science that involve several disciplines. In essence, the term biotech refers to the use of living organisms or their health care products to modify human health and the environment in order to obtain products that are beneficial to human beings. The term biotech also refers to genetic engineering technology and it has been used in many forms, although the equipment wasn’t the same back in the days. This means that biotechnology has still been present in the life of humans since the very first beginning of history.

Generally, modern biotech had just begun over 100 years ago. In the mid-19 century, the evolution and the development of biotechnology techniques encompass a wide range of products that meet the need of humanity. Some examples which can be applied to genetic engineering processes are the designing of new organisms to produce new types of proteins and vaccines. Currently, there are more than 250 biotechnology health care products and vaccines available to patients, many for previously untreatable diseases.

Biotechnology has made unbelievable advancements in the recent years, and will keep contributing to transform the world that everyone live in today by helping each person become more dependent on the products by healing, fueling, and feeding the world. For instance, genetically modified food has many desirable qualities and is coming very dramatically important to the world, its food supply and to the agricultural industry. These genetically engineered products haven’t been on the market for very long. They were first introduced through the mid-90s, and now it has spread through broad use in more than 25 nations around the world. For the most part, these crops were altered by using fewer natural resources to provide important consumer benefits, such as enhanced flavor and freshness, enhanced nutritional value and reduced saturated fat content. To reach to these advancements is through the use of the biotech method because they are improving in temperature resistance, improving the use of less water, enhancing crop herbicide tolerance and easing the use of more environmentally sustainable farming practices. They have been really modified to become almost too ideal to products that can be found in the marketplace. By far this is one of the most successful agricultural biotechnology products in the United States and it is leading towards a safer and effective zone that will enable the improvements of many lives and agricultural production to maintain the stability of the product.

In addition, did anyone ever wonder what West Nile virus is, and where it came from? Is it possible to estimate how many people have died from the West Nile virus? Is there a specific medication for the treatment of this potential virus? The West Nile virus is a disease spread by mosquitoes also caused by a virus related to those that cause yellow fever and dengue. In the 1940s, the virus was found to be especially widespread in the Nile River Region of Egypt and acquired the name of the West Nile virus after the West Nile region of Uganda, where it was thought to be developed about a thousand years ago. In the 1990s, by spreading to continents the virus traveled the borders of its native land. It arrived to Romania in the summer of 1996 and in North America in the summer of 1999.

Back in the 1940s, the West Nile virus seemed to be harmless but between the summer of 1999 and 2007 the total number of deaths in the United States were about 1,060 cases, most among elderly people. Approximately 20 percent of those who undergo the symptoms of the West Nile virus infection typically have chills, a low grade fever, a light headache, sore throat, muscle aches, a skin rash, and nausea and vomiting. However, there is no current or specific treatment for the West Nile virus, but Hawaii Biotech is a highly developed and successful biotech company that is focused on the research and development of innovative proteins and designing new vaccines especially concentrating on the West Nile Virus. This company believes that its approach focuses on the genetically engineered anti-viral protein discovery, screening for a significant safe and effective advantage for the development of the West Nile virus infection vaccine.

These immunizations are an anti-viral substance made from living or dead viruses and bacteria which concentrates on the function of the immunity of the organism to produce antibodies to boost the immune system. They also are generated to emphasize and identify any interruptions within the immune system that can make you very sick, disable or even kill you.

The development of the West Nile Vaccine will be produced by the Hawaii Biotech company. It will provide human health benefits such as reducing sickness and the spread of West Nile Virus infection. These benefits outweigh the risks.

Hawaii Biotech Company is trying to formulate a new type of West Nile vaccine that will provide better protection against the West Nile Virus infection. The Hawaii Biotech Company is utilizing a high quality of purified recombinant proteins that is targeted to produce a positive immune system response. By using this process the virus must be inactivated in order to acquire the proteins needed to be activated as a vaccine. What does this mean? This means that the high quality and the effectiveness of this vaccine will prevent the West Nile Virus infection without performing any damage in the immune system. But on the other hand, it will provide a substantial safety advantage to humankind.

The development program of West Nile vaccine is designed to assess safety, determine the dosage, and range. However, the development program of West Nile vaccine has yet to be fully developed to identify potential side effects. That is why Hawaii Biotech initiated an ascending dose phase 1 clinical study of a West Nile virus protein. The reason for starting a clinical study is to determine a way out of being infected with the virus. Although, the vaccine was well tolerated and produced antibody that will boost the immune system to help recognize the virus. It is not yet considered as a successful vaccine.

The result of the West Nile vaccine has shown that the vaccine provided 100% protection to 30 different species of animals. On the other hand, a horse vaccine has been developed and approved for use. Though, it will offer protection to horses, it will not provide protection to other animals. But Hawaii Biotech is trying to develop multiple ways to better the health of animals as well. The development of an orally administered version of the injectable version of the West Nile vaccine is coming up. This could potentially be applied to all the infected bird seeds in the country. This will prevent all the species of birds from being infected with the virus.

The West Nile vaccine consists of a number of compounds. These compounds will be derived from the virus itself. Hawaii Biotech is planning to extract a gene from the West Nile Virus to develop their vaccine. Some of the yellow fever genes with genes of a surface protein for the West Nile Virus will be combined to develop the vaccine. This Company is hoping to wipe out the yellow fever disease due to the relation found between the West Nile Virus and yellow fever. The centers for the Disease Controls and Prevention will use the same concepts as the Hawaii Biotech Company to develop a recombinant DNA vaccine.

To prevent the sickness and the spread of the West Nile infection, people should take normal steps to reduce and eliminate the mosquito population by disrupting mosquito breeding sites. Within every neighborhood, every resident should get rid of sources of stagnant or standing water containers where mosquito can breed. Children’s wading pools should be emptied when they are not being used. The water from birdbaths should be drained weekly, outdoor buckets should be emptied, flower pets should not contain water, swimming pool covers and other water-filled containers where mosquitoes can lay their eggs and breed must be deflated and put away. Lastly, remove any discarded tires that could accumulate water to help abolish mosquito’s breeding sites.

Some mosquitos like to come inside. To keep mosquitoes outside broken doors and windows must be covered and to ensuring it’s completely sealed, so that the mosquito will not be allowed indoors. If possible keep window and door screens shut at all times otherwise an entry will be facilitated to the mosquito easily. On the other hand, heavy rainfalls may be helpful to prevent mosquito bites by killing mosquitoes, their larvae, and their breeding sites.

One of the many ways to help prevent from being bitten by mosquitoes is to stay indoors. It is better to try to stay indoors in early morning and evening, because mosquitoes are most active at those times of day. Another way of reducing mosquito bites is to avoid unnecessary outdoor activity. If a dead bird is found outside in the front yard, backyard or sidewalk it should not be handled under any circumstances. This might be a sign that the bird has been exposed to the infection.

In general, the West Nile Virus is transmitted to humans via mosquito bites, therefore people primarily active outside are at risk, particularly in warmer weather. There are a few precautions that need to be taken in order to prevent the infection from being transmitted to one’s immune system. But everyone should use these precautions to reduce the virus in a pandemic scenario. Everyone is who is active during the daytime and nighttime should wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when the weather permits. At around dusk or at dawn, people should start to use insect repellent when outdoors because that is the time when mosquito swarms are more likely to be present. On the contrary, if you are taking a newborn for a walk outdoors, the parents must cover the baby strollers or carries with mosquito netting when taking the baby inside.

It is estimated that most people who become infected with the virus have no noticeable symptoms. About 20 percent of people develop a mild flu-like Illness that lasts about a week. Symptoms include permanent brain damage or paralysis similar to that caused by polio. Another risk factor that cannot be avoided is during hurricane season can increase the spread of the West Nile Virus infection. Despite the strong and heavy rainfalls, this could probably lead to a temporary increase in the number of mosquitoes.

Although, the virus can only be transmitted through mosquito bites, the risk of infection is greatest among individuals with weakened immune systems. However, people over fifty, pregnant women, people who have recently had cancer chemotherapy, and people with diabetes are also at the highest risk of infection. As far as is known, the West Nile Virus is not only transmitted to the human body, but it also affects animals. For example, the virus can be transmitted by the mosquito to bats, horses, dogs, cats, squirrels, and rabbits.

The West Nile Virus have a number of causes, but there have been reports that the virus behaves differently, and unexpectedly on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. This means that the virus can take over in a different form, maybe stronger, and perhaps highly unknown to the immune system. But it appears that signs of sick birds dying are being shown as the virus keeps adjusting according to the environment. This proves that the virus is more potent and can transform into more severe forms of the disease that can result in a long-term disease of the nervous system.

Most West Nile Virus infections are more likely to be diagnosed if a rapid diagnostic test for detecting the virus is given. In a few cases, when the West Nile Virus is spread through another route it worsen. For example, the virus causes an illness that if it worsens it can include a high fever, severe migraines, uncomfortable muscle aches, a skin rash, and sometimes even more severe infections. The virus can duplicate itself after it reaches the tissue of the brain or the tissue that cover brain and the spinal cord. As the virus keeps worsening people with severe from the virus will develop a weak partially paralyzed muscles and the immune system may lose consciousness. But now to 100% prevent the virus from being introduced to the body a definite diagnosis can be provided by testing blood or spinal fluid for antibodies against the virus.

In conclusion, Hawaii Biotech is a biotechnology company that will keep accelerating the production of the West Nile vaccine to help preclude an epidemic that will continue to pose as a major challenge to the company. This must be done to better human health benefits, and improve environmental preventions to reduce the infection and eliminate the transmission of the West Nile Virus. By providing more health benefits and expanding the precautions that will decrease the number of mosquito population and the spread of the virus. Hawaii Biotech will further investigate more to find a treatment to the virus, and finalize and rid the disease in any part of the world where the virus activity has been identified.
