In a recent video uploaded onto Twitter by Cardano CEO, Charles Hoskinson, he talked about the latest projects in the Cardano pipeline. Hoskinson, speaking from Singapore where he was attending the World Blockchain Conference touched base about Prometheus, Cardano’s Smart Contract, Plutus, and sidechains.
Charles Hoskinson has gone ahead and said that there has been a huge interest from users regarding the portable code. Prometheus is slated to be a backend toolbox that will be used to power multiple wallets such as a browser-based wallet, a software wallet, and a command line wallet.
These are stated to be the first releases in an upcoming line of developments. According to Hoskinson, Haskell is not the best computer language to formulate portable, user-friendly code but rather recommends the use of languages like Rust.
Hoskinson has also said that the Cardano is setting up a team to ensure that the properties of the platform are carried over to the development in mobile wallets, light wallets, and embedded devices. The collective code to make sure this happens has been named Project Prometheus.
The Cardano CEO has also revealed that the project has been going on for about 3 months within the company with September the expected release window for Prometheus. Hoskinson has also gone ahead to say that Prometheus will run on Android as well.
Charles has informed fans that the Plutus project team has been growing steadily with active efforts being made to use complex computer languages to make the platform bigger and better. The main aim of the Plutus system is to ensure that data can switch between multiple platforms.
Hoskinson has also said that Cardano will have its own ERC20 style standard with IELE and KEVM being supported at the moment.
To make IOHK’s projects more streamlined, Cardano has also hired a new project manager who will be overseeing the launch of two smart contract testnets, says Hoskinson.
He revealed that Cardano is using Solidity, a surface language because of its large library and systemic advantages. The video also shows that Solidity will be used to test both IELE and KEVM, the testnets.
In the video, Hoskinson clearly mentions that even though significant strides have been made in this work stream, the concept still includes the ‘principle vs pragmatism’ debate. On one hand, the publisher wants the code to be tested multiple times while on the other hand, the publisher wants to publish the code as soon as it is first implemented. Cardano and Hoskinson hope that they can demonstrate sidechains by connecting some centralized chains to the platform as a permitted ledger.
According to Hoskinson, Cardano is hoping to demonstrate that they are the most user-friendly platform available on the market right now.
