Cultural Diversity and Personal Growth in Germany as an International Student

Introduction

Since I came to Germany to study a degree in International Business in a foreign University, I have experienced quite a lot of things as an international student. As a first-year student, studying in Germany has made me have a broader view of life.

Social and Cultural Experiences

During my first semester, I have socialized with many friends who have made me realize that life is not only about academics. Some of my friends who engage in arts are doing quite well and will soon be successful. One thing that I have learned is that even if one does not perform well academically, there is always a chance to become successful when one practices their talent.

Studying abroad has enabled me to experience a new outlook in that I have met people who practice cultures and traditions that are different from that of my home country. This has enabled me understand their ways of life. The German people have developed the aspect of preserving their cultural beliefs and and traditions. This is something unique about them which makes it quite fascinating to me.

Culinary and Language Adventures

I am glad because of the fact that I have had experience in eating new kinds of food that are slightly different from the one I usually eat in my home country. During my first semester at the foreign university, I have had the opportunity to learn the German language. Learning a new language has immersed me into socializing with my fellow students.

Exploring Germany and Building Global Connections

I have met many friends, not just my classmates, who have accompanied me to many places in Germany. They have helped me know different places in this country such that I have now become familiar with most of the places in Germany. I have had the chance to visit places such as Rome and Prague where I have had a really nice time with some of my friends. Although I may not speak the German language fluently, I can translate what someone tells me in German as well as reply to them.

I have had the chance to interact with other international students other than those who live in Germany. In our class, there are some students who come from other countries such as the U.S. This has enabled me to make friends from around the globe, expand my horizons, and become acquainted with different nations.

Independence and Academic Growth

While in Germany, I have learned to make decisions without the help of my family. I have been able to live independently and this has enabled me to know how it feels like to live away from one’s family. The short period that I have lived without seeing my parents has made me develop confidence in myself. Studying in a foreign university has exposed me to a new and different kind of education system that I am not used to. The new research facilities that I have come across in Germany have improved my research capabilities.

Conclusion

Lastly, I must acknowledge and appreciate the love and kindness that I experienced since I arrived in this country. When I joined the university, I never expected that I will be received by my classmates with such kind-heartedness. It was a surprise to me considering the stories that I have heard concerning the way foreign students are usually treated. Their love has continued to prevail until now. It is a really nice experience to study in Germany.
