Freedom is not something you can buy at the store. Freedom is a privilege that brave men and women have and will lay down their life for. To me, being an American citizen is being free which translates to treating your fellow Americans with respect. It means that you don't judge people because of their color, religion, or their beliefs, but instead come together as one melting pot. Other dreams aren't like the American dream because the American dream is one of independence, one of freedom one dream that stands out in front of them all for many reasons.
Firstly because the American dream is a dream that defines each American. We are all free to focus on success and on being the best at whatever we put our minds too. Being an American defines who we are not by the color of our skin or who our father is. No. Being an American defines our character as hard working, brave and we don't run away from the fight we try to help in any way we can. The Constitution of the United States tells us that all men are created equal and we have unalienable rights. The American dream is a set of ideals, which includes the opportunity for prosperity and success for anyone, no matter who they are. Both of these beliefs say the exact same thing, which is we are free and we are equal as a whole. These dreams define all Americans in the way that we are all free and we have our rights as citizens. We are all free. We are equal. But nowhere does it imply in the American dream that we are under tyranny or that we have to report to someone above us. There is no tyranny, no king, no lord, no unfair system that governs the American dream.
In my eyes, the dream is a rule of freedom that grants freedom. People in America would agree that the American dream is as far from a nightmare as you can get. The American dream fulfills on what it promises and what it stands for. Furthermore, the American dream is something that stands out from other ideas because it has a guarantee. It is a beautiful dream that symbolizes each and every single American and what we stand for.
In all, I think being an American is performing your civic duties to the best of your abilities. We as Americans stand out because we have freedom to decide our fate, a set of laws that explain who we are, and a government system that respects our rights as citizens.
